[Closed] How on earth do I get a new cable in my 2016 Enduro for the Command Post?

The barrel thing at the post end 'popped' out of its housing today.  I tried to re-seat the thing but the original fit must have been really tight.  The outer housing (and therefore the inner as well) had a massive kink in at the post end.  No point persisting with re-fitting that so whipped the whole cable out.

Obvioulsy I now realise that perhaps keeping the outer in place while I feed a new inner might have been the way forward, then using the inner as a guide for the new outer.  I didn't!!

Can't seem to get anywhere past the bottom bracket area with the new inner or outer.  Any ideas?

Thanks

PS the Enduro has what looks like a cbale entry point on the downtube, up nearer the bars.  Any idea what that is for?

Have you removed the bottom bracket ?

I remember a friend struggling to do his dropper.

I seem to think the solution was a bent spoke, a torch and a lot of patience.

He was tempted to put some holes in the frame to avoid the BB as it kept kinking but he sold it in the end.

Good luck

BB has to be removed. I couldn't do mine with it in place

You have to remove a bb to fit a dropper cable? That’s a genius bit of bike design right there. If there’s not the room in the frame why didn’t they route the cable externally on the downtube and then just go in through a hole in the seat tube?

I did mine using an inner cable as a guide from the bottom and then threaded the outer over it from the top. Never had to remove the bottom bracket.

The vacuum cleaner and string method saved my sanity when threading the dropper cable in my 2016 frame.

Simply feed the strong down the seat tube while someone holds the vacuum cleaner nozzle over the cable port. Once you’ve fed string all the way through, tie one end to the end of a length of outer cable and pull it gently through.

uhmmm - thanks for the replies.  Had seen the string method on the web but not tried holding vacuum over the port hole. I tried it the other way feeding the string in the port but didn't work.

Tried the inner method but couldn't get it past the bb - more patience required!  Will give it another go.

My problem (I hope) has gone away.  LBS managed to get it sorted straight away this morning and my kids won't get to learn new swear words...

I'll have a better idea of what's needed next time!
