10 year old Specialized FSR.
It is getting a bit tired now 😕
2 months. Recently built up BFe. (still on 26' wheels tho 🙂 )
Depends his you define 'main'.
But I have a 2013 Covert and a Carbon 456, unsure of year but I'd guess it's a 2011/2012.
8 year old Rock Lobster.
Frame a bit battered, probably needs new forks, fine otherwise.
Lovely bike.
Occasionaly get the itch for a full susser, but it doesn't last.
Just replaced my 10 year old fsr with a new bike. So only 4 weeks old.
2014 456 Evo II, the one I ride most though is a 97 rockhopper.
My main bike is a 2010 Genesis flyer. I think my Soul is a 2008 frame going on the serial number. Both look like new so no plans to change.
3 year-old Five. Few dents and scratches on the frame but components replaced when worn!
My off road bike is Trek Fuel ex. I bought it used in 2010. Its a 2009 bike that had been ridden once. So It's 6 years old
My "road bike" is a 1999 Orange Gringo hard tail that I think I bought new in 1999. So its 16 years old
My main bike is an '09 FSR.
The oldest bike currently in my possession is a custom tourer built for me in '87. Most of the parts on it are slightly newer, but not by much.
My main bike is an'09 Anthem X, six years old.
1 on 9th March according to Strava.
10Yr old Kona Caldera HT. Had a few new bits over the years but still going strong. Forks even had the oil changed recently which made a massive difference.
Still a great bike though.
26" AS WELL
About 3 months old.
Hooker frame is 2 years old next week (reckon that's some sort of record for me 😯 ). Most of the parts are a lot older though (cranks must be 10 years old at least, rims about the same although wheels have been rebuilt around several different hubs and brakes probably 8-9 years old and forks about 5 years old) - I don't feel so bad about my frame-swapping habit now.
08 Orange p7.
06 Handjob...
New one incoming after April.
9 months for my current Nukeproof Mega TR frame, although it is on its 4th shock. I think the oldest part of the bike is the rear hub body at 4 years old.
I bought a new 2013 Anthem in January but I've yet to use it,still using my 2005 Giant NRS.I'll start using the Anthem when the trails dry out,so that'll be a while..
My winter bike is a prototype 456 and my summer bike they stopped making in 2006 (it's a brand new frame though... not sure how that counts).
I'm not good enough to take advantage of modern stuff 😉
2 years one month, though my last main bike was from 2005, came to me in 2009 (but basically unused the last 2 years.)
2005 SC Blur LT. No need to replace it, I love it
HT - 1998 M2 Stumpjumper
SS - 1995 Kona Kilaeua
HTH!
My bikes evolve. New bits are added and old bits are taken away. Apart from the seat post on my 2004 enduro absolutely nothing is stock or over three years old.
2008 on-one scandal. Brilliant bike.
But I am building up a 2009 spesh pitch to 'modernise'.......
The main MTB has a frame about two years old, the rest of it was secondhand, so no idea!
The main road bike is getting on towards it's 9th year and probably around 60k miles.
My main bike as in the one I ride most days is about 20 years old an orange p7 from the year they first came with v brakes . my main mountain biking bike is an sc super light about 13 or 14 years old in concept but it is a "Triggers broom” I think the forks and shock are the only original bits and the forks have had a serious overhaul.
Had it since September, next one will be the same time this year.
MTB 2006
Road 2003
Hybrid 2011
MTB doesn't have many (any) original parts left apart from the frame.
Road bike (with Ultegra) still has original shifters, derailleurs and brakes - still work well
Road bike 2004
Mtb 2013
One that's does the most miles early 1980s road bike
1993 mountain bike, though about to upgrade to a newer one - 1994.
1992 26" wheel "rough stuff" tourer.
Tried a modern one - 2010 Orange R8. Just don't like the geometry of longer forks.
2010. Sort of. Possibly the suspension pivots are original but everything else has been replaced.
Oldest is 2009 on one 456........currently set up rigid SS hack bike.
Main winter bike 2010 Geness
Main summer ride 2010 Orange
Couple of other machines in the quiver which may become the 'main bike' soon....
Both main bikes less than a year old, one 7months t'other 8months.
2011 charge duster 26" (actually is my only bike now).
11 year old Cotic Soul. Needs stripping and respraying and rebuilding with some bling.
2012 Cube Stereo SL. 3 yrs old next month and I still love riding it. 🙂
I am now ready for a shiny new hardtail though, but am struggling with what to go for!!
6 weeks.
3 years before that.
Cannondale SL5 Trail Bought June 2013.
BTWIN Triban 300 Bought January 2015
Previous Carrera Vulcan 2009 sold to a guy on here. Was a cracking bike and was sad to see her go. The Cannondale was to get my missus into mountain biking so it was hers, she got spooked by a heavy fall at Gisburn forest so gave up.
Two 'main' bikes.
Local woods and winter bike. 2012 BFe. Parts on it are all between 1 and 3 years old.
Big days out bike. 2014/15 (the one without the shock shuttle) Alpine 160 26. Got the frame in August last year but all the parts were bought over a year before to build onto the Rocket I never got...
Main / posh road bike is a year old.
Winter road bike is 5 months old, but the freehub is ****ed
Only MTB is 8 months old.
2011 bright yellow Cove HJ
Makes me smile every ride
😀
Oldest is my road bike, a 2012 Defy Composite. Newest is CDF, which is a few weeks old.
road about 8 years- stock pretty much
FS about 6 years- some upgrading wheels brakes etc
SS about 2 years- old parts in the main
Other FS about 10 years- new drive train and other stuff
My most ridden bike is my commuter, which is based around a frame I won at SSUKSSUK in 2006. The rear wheel on it is older though, because it was second hand.
My MTB is technically older, in a Trigger's Broom way, as the fork is about a decade old. The rest of the bike is only a couple of years old, as it's an insurance replacement for the bike the fork originally belonged to.
2012 Cove G-Spot, but it's the 2010 model with the silly seat tube size. It's a ****ing hooligan, I adore it but fancy something slightly less agro that rolls a bit easier - maybe a Hustler 650b
My main bike is 2 months old (orbea Rallon), my spare bike is 10 years old (specialized enduro)
1996 SC Superlight. Still a stunning bike. Still original apart from chain etc.
Took it for a service a while ago and the local SC rep saw it and was casting his eye over it. It's the pre rear disc version. He said that when they went disc only on the rear the rear triangles all cracked. Said he saw a whole workshop full of cracked ones within weeks.
Still love mine although just built up a 22lb SS Inbred which is sweet. My thighs were like balloons on Wednesday night though on my first ride - jeez!!
Main bike is a ?'93/94 Bontrager Race. Love it.
3 months for my main mtb.
9 months for the main Mtb.
Soul is 4 years old, as are most its components (obviously not the drivetrain!) Spitfire is 1 year old as are all its parts bar the bars (younger) and stem (older). 50/50 usage nowadays.
strava tells me my most ridden bike last year is my 15 year old commuter. although only the frame, seatclamp, brakes and sti's are original.
'Main' (ie the one i would keep over the others) is 9 years old altogether and 4 years old to me, with slightly less ancient parts. but tbf the newest non-wearing drivetrainy part is still at best 2010.
2008 I've been promising myself a new one for 3 years but my pay
won't allow it
MTB: nearly 5 years old (2010 Heckler) though the drivetrain was replaced in January to a 1x10. The other mountain bike is a 97 Cindercone.
Road: a 2012 Scott CR1 which came from a PSA on this forum which I saw when I came back from the pub. I got a bit of a surprise when a bike box turned up a few days later.
I like this thread. 🙂
Got my current mtb (sc mk2 nomad) in 2009, so coming up 5years. Would love a mk3c but at 5k unless those six numbers come up it isn't gonna happen 😥
2012. Well, except for the fact the only original part from 2012 is the seat post clamp.....
(Frame late 2013, due to snappage, drivetrain ~2 yo (XTR/XXupgrade), wheelset 18months, shock, 14months, fork 8months, brakes, 1 week)
😉
2004 Turner 5 Spot. Still the best looking FS bike there's ever been.
Blur LTc - mostly my main bike sort of 18 months
Rocky Element - my other main buke 3 months
2009 for the swift
2010 Santa Cruz Butcher obsolete frame although its easily 650b compatitable.
2014 full sus.
2013 road.
Thought I'd get new ones in before the kid arrived. Gotta last a few years now!
I've no idea how old my road bike is, I'd guess 8 years or more
Mtb is from November
2012 Nukeproof Mega - Bought 2013
Surprisingly original, swapped out for reverb & new seat, tyres.
Usual worn out stuff, bb, chain, cassette.
2010 Genesis Altitude (HT) - Bought 2011
Almostly completely replaced / upgraded. Only fork, derailleurs and shifters original. Now 2x9.
2002 Schwinn Road Bike - Bought 2005
Now used as commuter, recently replaced bars, stem, seat, seat post, wider rear cassette to improve / change ride position.
Main MTB is a 2007 sworks far which doesn't see much use, HT is a 2000 cannondale. Bike which gets used most is the road bike which is a 2002 trek oclv.
My policy with most purchases is buy the best kit and keep it for a long time
The frame is a 1993 Saracen Kili team the rest of it varies from a couple of years old to several months old.
Lovely to ride though.
A new build us waiting in the wings and the Saracen will become a 2nd bike to be shared with my daughter.
Had my Ibis for nearly 4 years before I got my new Foxy carbon, which is now about 2 weeks old. Before that my main bike was a max light xc120 which was about 5 year olds when I finally replaced it. Kept the frame though, which is kinda what I wish I'd done with the Ibis, bloody loved that bike, gutted she's gone 🙁
My Liteville is about 18months old. The rear King hub however is over 15yrs old
Traser 2 July 13
2010 Blur LTc (main bike)
2012 Canyon Torque
2013 Croix de fer
Good to see you've changed your metric to 'years' rather than 'hours', Mamadirt..
my oldest bike is 2.5 years, newest is 3 months.
the jones is 3.5 years old. just finished paying of the bank loan this month!
still the best bike I've ever had and has that oddly amazing still 'fresh' feeling. still totally love it.
and its not my main bike - its my only bike.
2011 Cannondale Super 6 ultegra
2012 Meta SL
2012 Enigma Ego Ti
07 Ibis Mojo.
Still ride my 1990 rockhopper most days as a commuter hack. Only frame & brakes are original. Mtbs are circa 2003 cove hummer & circa 2005 hustler. Both still great bikes. Road bike is a 10+ year old focus Cayo. That was a £1000 full ultegra bike. Just put better wheels on. You don't need the latest bike to have fun and still be pretty fast. Just replaced my 8 speed cassette and chain on the hummer for less than £15. Bargain
Main mountain bike is about 6 months old but it replaced a stumpyjumper of 5 years. My road bike is about 5 years old although it is on its second set of race wheels.
The only bike I've ever bought whole was my s/h my 09 Kona Major Jake everything else is builds.
Covert, coming up for a year old
MTB - 2008 Commencal Meta - by far the longest I've had 1 bike - April 2009. No NEED to change but loving what Canyon are doing with the Strive/Spectral....maybe next year.
Road - 2013 Cube Agree GTC Pro - had 12 months...love it.
