I'm finding my road tubeless setup pretty leaky. No leaks as such when tested in the bath, but am down to 40-50psi from 70-75 ish after 2-3 days.
Anyone else?
Every couple oF weeks on one, three weeks or so on the other.
Before every ride, same as if tubed or tubeless. Not a re-inflate as such, just a top-up to make sure they're where they need to be.
Yep, mine tend to leak air a lot quicker than my mtb tyres, I put it down to the higher pressures. If my next ride is 1-2 days after the last I'll tend to just leave them, any later and I'll give them a check. And often have to top up 10-20psi back to the 80 or so I run them at.
Yeah I'll check them every time I ride and normally need to top up ten psi or so.
I check them before every ride. They seem to lose 10-20psi a week - which is about the same as tubes.
I do mine before every ride, with tubes. If I leave it a week they've easily lost 10-15psi which is the difference between pinch flats and not.
Every ride, same as with any of my bikes
Probably every 2-3 rides. When the thumb squish tells me they need a bit of air.
Every 10 or so days...
Cheers!
I.
I tend to ride every other day and they drop between 5 - 10 psi from around 75 psi on conti 5000 TL
Was every few days, but they seem to have stabilised recently.
Maybe they need a top up of sealant already.
I'll top them up before most rides - so that could be every day. Will go down from 80 to 75 in a day.
A non leaky tyre will still lose pressure over time because oxygen & nitrogen diffuse through and are slightly soluble in butyl rubber so pass through at a slow rate.
But the oxygen is more soluble than nitrogen, this escapes at a faster rate.
So tyres are a molecular sieve, slowly over several partial reinflations the gas inside becomes more nitrogen rich.
As the gas becomes more nitrogen rich it then escapes at a slower rate so the longer your tyres are kept without major leaks the slower they lose pressure and need topping up less frequently.
Urgh all the bloody time on my commuter. Twice a week at least. It’s pretty annoying and TBH I’m not convinced tubeless is worth the hassle for commuting. It’s also only the front wheel (identical tyres) so it’s nothing to do with diffusion of O2/Nitrogen.
Yes I'm finding the same as you superficial.
