Just wondering how much drop and on what type of bike people run on their droppers.

I'm a bit of a luddite, didn't drop my saddle in the past, kind of like it now, but only run 100mm because one of the posts only came with 100mm and the other I wasn't sure if I could accomodate bigger on my frame plus I feel like the saddle is right out of the way at 100mm drop (it's a HT and I only ever used to drop the saddle by 50-60mm on HTs pre-dropper.).

I've ridden with people (who, incidentally, are monumentally better riders down hill than me) who run 125mm+ droppers and drop the post a bit more for any big descents. I wouldn't feel the benefit, but then again before I got used to dropping the saddle for descents that felt odd too and the benefit was limited.

As much as I can fit in the frame.

I have a 150 mm drop post and sometimes for long runs of steeeep* stuff (some Lakes, Golfie) I'll drop the extra 20 mm with the quick release too.

*when you grate your bum on the tyre steep.

/edit -this is on an Enduro-Sled (Gnarpoon). The HT singlespeed just has the seatpost down manually all the time.

Yeah I occasionally grate my bum on the tyre, maybe I just don't move about as much as I should!

Why wouldn't you go for the biggest drop you can fit? You may never drop it more than 100mm but the choice is there. For me it's vital I can get the saddle low enough to give me a comfortable seat when hanging around chatting, waiting at gates, etc 🙂
