Having a penchant for wiggly bars means that I have flat bars.
To get enough of a rise I've just bought new forks with a nice long steerer. Just playing about in the shed this feels comfy. In real life I will probably drop it a bit but I'd rather be uncomfortable than unfashionable.
How high can I go without being outcast?

Less than that 🙂
40mm is the rule of thumb in our shop. We have gone much bigger but used a custom insert to strengthen the steerer.
That Rossin would be quicker if it had air in its rear tyre...
Wouldn't starting with a frame your size save you some spacers?
Otherwise, go for it, nobody will see past the bars anyway.

...Is what my great grandma used to say about stem spacers.
As long as you have an equal amount above the stem it's fine. Y'know, for balance.
You need to rethink your brake lever placement also!
I'm going to have nightmares
You also need to look up the definition of penchant. Although you say you have flat bars but appear to have risers rolled forwards at a mental angle? To be honest the whole thing is so wrong I'm struggling to cope.
Ah, I see. Absolutely top drawer trolling, puts that Taylforth to shame.
OOOH! 'Ark at 'er, with 'er TWO watering cans.
Jesus! Is that a third watering can behind the red one? Madness.
That bike looks likes one of those EBay "custom" bikes that people start joke threads about.
Seriously though, who needs three watering cans?
OOH! 'Ark at 'er, with 'er TWO watering cans.
Since when did patios need watering? 😆
I don't think people are going to be too interested in how the stem looks. Silver linings and all - it means you can go nuts.
I think he meant he likes backswept ("wiggly") bars, which typically (I assume) do not come with much rise. Hence the need for more stem height. You also need to look up the definition of penchant. Leaded & unleaded, innit?
Kill it, kill it with fire. 😯
It looks like you have lost two chainrings on the front.
More than 3 there should never be...
I can only see two...
You're grand
Look like 40mm rise bars rolled forward giving some weird old sweep, I'm confused!
You could use a higher rise stem to get the bars the height you want them instead of lots of spacers. Check out the Salsa and Ritchey websites.

On one bars name escapes me.
I have them just not quite so rotated 😀
I think anymore spacers and you'll need to buy a thorn...
The stem is the least of your problems. Luckily the sales have started.
1337, but don't over-do it, you will look uncool. 😉
There isn't a single picture in this thread that doesn't make me feel sick in some way.
Ha! I missed zippykona's post earlier - that's my photo - they're the exact same bars that are on my bike in the photo below. Same Swift in both photos too.
