I've just seen a statistic that says 900 people must be just about all the people who ride in the peak district and who are on twitter. Putting my head in the world of Venn diagrams, is that about right? How many mountain bikers are there in the UK?

Are you sure some of them aren't one of those already mentioned above? Do you think we should name them all to avoid double counting?

Yep… hand in the air…. another one here - this could take you a while.

I know of 2 others in my town so you could count them as well if it helps.

I wouldn't consider myself a 'mountain bker', even though I occasionally ride off road. A cyclist yes.

Will need names to prevent double counting really.

I'm one, but don't really getting involved in stuff like this, so don't count me please 😉

I've ridden Cut Gate once and also round Ladybower. I've also ridden The Beast. Does that make me a Peaks Rider? I was on a bike at the time

Up to 8 different people have ridden it with me but none of us are on Twitter for biking stuff (we're all on Facebook instead)

Hope this helps

Hey, I ride a mountain bike - but I'm quite lazy, so put me down as ¾.

Plenty of people on here can make a mountain out of a mole hill.

Pook, posted on Keeper of the Peak? Over 3800 Strava users have been down Potato Alley so I'd imagine many many more ride the Peak.

My bro and his GF want counted in, they've only been out a couple of times on their bikes but they don't want to be left out, his name is Rab and she's called Clare so can you mark them down as counted?.

They're asking if they can get a sticker or something for their car to show they are mtb'rs? (it's an audi A3 Tdi S-line so i guess that means they are stw mtb'rs?)

Great stuff, where getting somewhere now.

That's a definite three Lees we can add to the list unless someone else knows another.

I ride bikes, but I don't have mountains to ride, I think we call them fells? Do I still get included, if so add 6 to the list to include my riding muckas. 🙂 Ta

We fit in to the "enduro" "all mountain" group though, naturally. 😉

This is going well isn't it?, I've lost count of everyone so I hope someone is making a proper list but as this is STW I imagine someone has already compiled a word doc with an alphabetisised and categorised list of all so far.

Sorry to arrive late to this but we've been having a party and I'm just tidying up. I'm not sure if I've already been counted in the stuff up to this post. I suggest we start again. I'll be "one". Anyone for "two"?

I'm a definite 1/4; if that's of any use for rounding purposes.

I ride the South Downs so if you are counting me in then I don't think I should count, afterall it's/they're just bumps in all honesty.

Nah, strike through my name, but leave it on the list. I want to feel part of something in my life. 😉

Another ATB rider here,so that's me and coastkid (2).

Is an Enduro rider the love child of an AM and DH one nighter?

😉

I'm proficient in the language of mountain bike both listening and spoken, I reckon I could pass as a mountain biker.

Anything lower than 0.49 will need to be rounded down, so for the interest of accuracy, sorry BN, you're oot 🙁

And it's 188,762, of which 4,639 are 'regular' riders who ride at least once per week.

Google is your friend 😉

Sorry to confuse the "Lee" issue.

I know a Leigh that wants to be counted, although she did say she would be willing to change the spelling to "Lee" if it helps keeps things simple.

Let me know.

Perhaps we should start by counting the Female mountain bikers, that should be a lot easier?

(i think it's 3. Rachy Atherton, Hannah Barnes and Tmo..... 😉
