You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Inspired by the what helmet thread and having in the past defended my Imelda Marcos-esque helmet collection I'll start
1 x general purpose MTB helmet
1 x night riding helmet, has light mount left on
1 x commuting helmet, has torch permanently mounted
1 x road/CX helmet
1 x FF
I figure if I have many helmets, I'm not going to wear through them any quicker so I'd might as well have the right too for the job! (and it's always nice to be able to remove a sweaty commuting helmet before you put on a fresh on and head on on the MTB)
that's not too bad is it??
For balance I have 1 helmet for everything: a specialized tactic with the visor removed (gasp). Use for mtbing, commuting, road riding.
1x general purpose day helmet - Giro Savant
1x general purpose night helmet - Giro something or other cheap with my bodged light mount on it all the time. This is also my v cold weather helmet as I often tape up the front vents.
4 x trail lids.
1 x trail lid with a light on.
2 x fullface lids.
1 x trail lid with a big dent in that needs trowing in the bin.
3
1 x full face
1 x commuting (old MTB open face)
1 x MTB open face
same as OP, plus a new spare for reasons I forget.
It's almost certainly too many...
oh, and a p1ss pot for winter commuting, not been out this winter, not been cold enough.
2x road
2x mtb
1 x MTB/commuting/road helmet
1 x DH helmet
6
bell stoker for commuting
Fox flux for mtb
Met valeno for road
Met valeno with headlight permanently attached for night riding
Tsg pisspot for bmx
Troy Lee full face for dh and anything with big jumps and gaps.
One for road, one for CX and MTB. And one for karting 😉
3.
I only ride MTB. 1 for the day, 1 for night riding with the light fitting permanently installed, and a full facer which is a recent edition last year.
2. A Specialized Tactic that lives with me and I use for everything, removing the visor for road rides and most commutes.
And also an older Met Kaos UL that I leave at my parents' house in Scotland so I need to carry less stuff to ride away (there's a bike especially for that purpose too).
3 for me:
1 x Aero, Specialized Evade.
1 x Normal usage, Specialized S3.
1 x Commute, Decathlon job with light on top
2. A Specialized S-Works "crossover" (S3?) lid with peak for MTB & a pisspot for commuting.
One for each of my heads
I have a few.
Fox Flux for general MTB
TLD A1 for general MTB when its colder/when I want to colour match my Orange TLD shorts*
Urge Endur-o-matic for night riding as the mount fits better on that then other helmets
Fox Rampage FF for DH obviously
Specialized Propero II road helmet, for road riding
Bell Drop Cedric Gracia FF My old FF that I keep in case anybody needs to borrow one.
I also have a TSG somethingorother that I really should throw away as it never gets used and is a bit knackered.
* Yes I know I'm a nob.
Strangely enough I took a detour on the way in to work this morning and picked up a barely used Scott Wit Road helmet for £15. I already have the same helmet in a different colour but this one is the perfect match for the Defy I got last week. I need help.
2,
A Fox Flux for when I have to pedal, a Troy Lee D2 for when I don't.
I should REALLY change them, the Flux is from 2009 and the D2 from 2007.
I've slimmed down to
1 x General MTB, bit bulkier, visor, etc.
1 x XC Race, lighter, ventier, little peak that's easy to remove, also used on road when warm
2 x Commute and general purpose road, half way between the two above and two of them to deal with excessive soakings and re-use.
MTB, road, commuting (the old MTB lid, downgraded), full face.
An older black Giro Hex which I don't really use anymore, partly because it's a bit bashed up and I'm concerned that it's not up to the job anymore.
A newer (2014) orangey red Giro Hex which I use all the time.
A new Met Parachute for a bit more security when I'm doing uplift riding.
I think I've a problem, not including old/cracked lids...
Full Faces
Troy Lee D2 Comp
Troy Lee D2 Carbon
Specialized Dissident Carbon (imo better than the D3)
Tail
661 Recon
Bell Super
Scott Stego with GoPro mount for light
Met Parabellum
Road
Bell something or other
Car
Sparco wtt touring
Too many...
Bell Super
Bluegrass Golden Eye
Urge Endur-o-matic
THE One FF
Bluegrass FF
Giro piss pot
Bell road helmet
Plus a couple of broken helmets hanging up in the garage for some reason.
Not enough if I'm honest..
I have one battered old Gyro Hex that's got bits of the cradle hanging off and the shell is basically stuck together with sellotape
I use it for all my riding
Met Veleno for most riding, also a Bell Super trail helmet, that only really gets worn on social rides as its too warm for general riding
1 road
1 mtb
selection of cracked or dented as a monument to my incompetence
Inspired by the what helmet thread and having in the past defended my Imelda Marcos-esque helmet collection I'll start1 x general purpose MTB helmet
1 x night riding helmet, has light mount left on
1 x commuting helmet, has torch permanently mounted
1 x road/CX helmet
1 x FF
I was going to say just 2 and then mock your excessive collection- but then read your list and realised I'm almost the same..
MTB, spare MTB, commuting in the locker with my bike at the P&R, Road and FF - snap.
Also motorbike and ski.. and only one head..
1 light for commuting/riding on the road - covered in reflective tape with a Lezyne Macro Duo on top
1 light for MTB - currently has an Exposure Diablo on top
Another MTB helmet, exactly the same as I already have, but sitting BNIB as it was too cheap to turn down. I'd not thought of running this as a daytime helmet, that's a cracking idea. Might just do that - though I rarely ride in the daytime at the moment
EDIT - 2 Motorcycle helmets too. One for everyday/commuting, one for fast road riding/track days
I have one of these for road
and one of these for mountain

Finally, I wear this when commuting as it keeps the rain out of my eyes
1 Road - Specialized S3
1 MTB - Mavic Notch
1 Full face - THE Industries One Composite Legion
A Giro Monza.
Doesn't seem to care if it's used on road or off.
Doesn't seem to care if it's used on road or off.
Just because you can't hear the wood fairies laughing doesn't mean they aren't.
3
My "main" helmet - road or MTB depending on whether the peak comes off or stays on, natch 🙂
Met Parachute - had it for years, never wear it, but good to have for lending out occasionally
Full face - for playing on the jumps and DH
Useable I have 4-
Giro Xar for MTBing
B'twin 500 which I picked up this week for night riding, so I leave a light on it all the time. It's a bargain, only £17 and I'd say on a par with £50 helmets I've had in the past. http://www.decathlon.co.uk/500-bike-helmet-black-id_8328686.html
Cratoni Bullet for road and cross
Mouldy 661 Comp full face for the rare times I do DH these days.
1, a Mavic Syncro.
But, nothing wrong with having more necessarily. If I did more MTB and somehow became a bit more Gnar I could see the sense in a more specific lid. Similarly it's crossed my mind a couple of times to get another one for commuting, if I was doing a shortish urban one every day.
2:
A Uvex Quatro for the off-road shenanigans
A Giro Savant for the on-road shenanigans
Only bought the road helmet because the peak on the Uvex blocked the view ahead when on the road bike.
Oh, and there's also an old Bell Sweep in the spare room that I replaced with the Uvex; nothing wrong with it, so seems a shame to bin it. But.....
Two that fit properly, and three that don't fit properly, so don't get worn.
7iDP M2,
661 Comp full face and
A Kask road lid a friend gave me.
Only other thing I have is a Fox Flux that I replaced with the M2 and not got around to binning yet. To be honest I don't really wear the full face in the UK, I'm just as likely to ride DH in my M2 nowadays.
Tom KP.
Lazer O2 for the road
Bell Super on the mountainbike
Troy Lee D2 for the fun (stupid) stuff
Giro Xen for trail.
Giro Air Attack for road
Giro Ionos for vented road and xc race
Kali something or other full face
Giro Advantage 2
Bell Javelin
Kask Bambino
1 x something for the road
1x pisspot for commuting as it keeps my head warm
1x giro hex for night riding
1x bell super 2r
1x 661 fullface
1 x giro ski helmet
1 x petzl climbing helmet
1 x motorbike helmet
This seems a lot!
2 x road
2 x MTB (one with lights mounted, one with a camera mount)
3
Troy Lee A1 for mtb
Giro hex for night riding, trailer towing, commuting
Specialised S1 for road
Fox Flux without the visor for road.
As I broke the visor taking it off the Flux I bought an Urge something or other in a sale for off-road use.
Jeez you guys are a dream come true for the likes of CRC
I have a fox flux that is now 6 years old, for night rides I put a light mount on it, for commuting I wear a buff under it. I would like a helmet with a better visor and more goggle friendly but I can't seem to justify getting another whilst it still functions.
I'd be worried about the safety performance of a 6 year old EPS helmet personally, but there you go.
Each to their own.
Two, a Troy Lee A1 for mtbing and a Kask Mojito for road & commute.
I wear a beanie hat if it's cold, or a cap if it's hot, but no helmet.
4.
3
Giro something or other XC lid
661 Full face
Bell piss-pot
2x motorbike lids, but neither fits comfortably (I have a huge head, and it's not as circular as most XXL lids), can't sell them because no one buys 2nd hand lids, can't face binning them due to the cost!
I have quite a collection of Lazer helmets. I have a Helium, a Genesis, an O2, a Blade, an Ultrax and a snowboard helmet that I have no idea what it's called. There's also a Bell Volt and a Giro Hex that are both quite old and should probably be binned.
3
1x orange
1x black
1x white
Loads
1 Giro XC
1 Giro XC
1 Bell DH/FF
1 AGV motorbike
1 Arai Motorbike
1 HJC motorbike
I thought I was bad!
Giro Ionos (metallic grey), road
Giro Athlon (white/orange) mtb
Bell Array (white) road
Mavic CXR (bright yellow) road
One that I wear (Giro Savant)
One that I wore about 5 times before realising that it's slightly too small so I need to get around to selling it on here (Lazer 02).
And I thought having two was being extravagant.....
😆
7x Mtb (4 are old though- not sure I'll be using them again)
1x road
3 here soon to be 4.
1 old MTB with lights mounted all the time
1 newer MTB
1 road
going to add a Bell Super 2R with removable chin guard
1 x 661 full face
1 x ixs mtb
1 x giro road
1 x spare giro mtb which probably needs to be binned
3 . . . 1 very ageing pi$$pot with zero padding (so's it doesn't mess up my hair 🙄 ) which gets used most days, 1 Bell Super (for longer rides and days when I don't give a cr@p about my hair 😆 ) and a Fox Rampage full-face.
giro hex
giro feature
661 comp f/f
troy lee d2 f/f
3 helemts
4 bikes
did a total of 300 miles all last year acording to strava...
2 Kask Mojitos
1 Kask Dieci
and 3 Limar somethingorothers which don't really get used these days.
I just found a retro bell helmet circa 92 in my cupboard whilst having a clearout! Anyone fancy it to complete their retro bike look? (disclaimer - its probably not going to keep your head particularly well protected)
Thought I'd ask on here as a long shot. It'll be going in the bin otherwise!
Mtb: 1 Giro, 1 Bluegrass, 1 Fox & 1 661
Snow: 2 x Giros
Motorbike: 3 x Arais
3
Urge Enduromatic - getting a bit worn and could do with replacing
Urge full face - for when I feel like going down big hills
Specialized something - for going on the CX bike
661 motocross helmet
Urge dh helmet for snowmobile
Giro savant for commuting /touring
Poc snowboard helmet
Met parachute for MTB
Could do with getting rid of the first two, seen as they're very dusty!
Giro Xar for MTB and road (peak still on)
Troy Lee D3 Carbon for gnarly MTB
Troy Lee D2 Carbon - retired but can't throw out as it is so nice
Troy Lee D2 open face which I picked up for £50 and gets used snowboarding and occasional really snowy rides when I want to keep my lugs warm
2x Giro Monza
2x Fox Transition
2x BBB
1x Lazer
Alpine for commuting
Got all mine in sales the first Fox Transition cost £15 from Stiff.
2 BBB were half price in Cheltenham cycles.
Years ago Specialized was it S1!! use to coast £100 you can get 4 excellent helmets now for that.
