Inspired by the what helmet thread and having in the past defended my Imelda Marcos-esque helmet collection I'll start

1 x general purpose MTB helmet
1 x night riding helmet, has light mount left on
1 x commuting helmet, has torch permanently mounted
1 x road/CX helmet
1 x FF

I figure if I have many helmets, I'm not going to wear through them any quicker so I'd might as well have the right too for the job! (and it's always nice to be able to remove a sweaty commuting helmet before you put on a fresh on and head on on the MTB)

that's not too bad is it??

For balance I have 1 helmet for everything: a specialized tactic with the visor removed (gasp). Use for mtbing, commuting, road riding.

I only ride MTB. 1 for the day, 1 for night riding with the light fitting permanently installed, and a full facer which is a recent edition last year.

2. A Specialized Tactic that lives with me and I use for everything, removing the visor for road rides and most commutes.
And also an older Met Kaos UL that I leave at my parents' house in Scotland so I need to carry less stuff to ride away (there's a bike especially for that purpose too).

I have a few.

Fox Flux for general MTB
TLD A1 for general MTB when its colder/when I want to colour match my Orange TLD shorts*
Urge Endur-o-matic for night riding as the mount fits better on that then other helmets
Fox Rampage FF for DH obviously
Specialized Propero II road helmet, for road riding
Bell Drop Cedric Gracia FF My old FF that I keep in case anybody needs to borrow one.

I also have a TSG somethingorother that I really should throw away as it never gets used and is a bit knackered.

* Yes I know I'm a nob.

Strangely enough I took a detour on the way in to work this morning and picked up a barely used Scott Wit Road helmet for £15. I already have the same helmet in a different colour but this one is the perfect match for the Defy I got last week. I need help.

2,

A Fox Flux for when I have to pedal, a Troy Lee D2 for when I don't.

I should REALLY change them, the Flux is from 2009 and the D2 from 2007.

I've slimmed down to

1 x General MTB, bit bulkier, visor, etc.
1 x XC Race, lighter, ventier, little peak that's easy to remove, also used on road when warm
2 x Commute and general purpose road, half way between the two above and two of them to deal with excessive soakings and re-use.

An older black Giro Hex which I don't really use anymore, partly because it's a bit bashed up and I'm concerned that it's not up to the job anymore.
A newer (2014) orangey red Giro Hex which I use all the time.
A new Met Parachute for a bit more security when I'm doing uplift riding.

Not enough if I'm honest..

I have one battered old Gyro Hex that's got bits of the cradle hanging off and the shell is basically stuck together with sellotape

I use it for all my riding

Met Veleno for most riding, also a Bell Super trail helmet, that only really gets worn on social rides as its too warm for general riding

I was going to say just 2 and then mock your excessive collection- but then read your list and realised I'm almost the same..
MTB, spare MTB, commuting in the locker with my bike at the P&R, Road and FF - snap.

Also motorbike and ski.. and only one head..

1 light for commuting/riding on the road - covered in reflective tape with a Lezyne Macro Duo on top

1 light for MTB - currently has an Exposure Diablo on top

Another MTB helmet, exactly the same as I already have, but sitting BNIB as it was too cheap to turn down. I'd not thought of running this as a daytime helmet, that's a cracking idea. Might just do that - though I rarely ride in the daytime at the moment

EDIT - 2 Motorcycle helmets too. One for everyday/commuting, one for fast road riding/track days

Finally, I wear this when commuting as it keeps the rain out of my eyes

My "main" helmet - road or MTB depending on whether the peak comes off or stays on, natch 🙂
Met Parachute - had it for years, never wear it, but good to have for lending out occasionally
Full face - for playing on the jumps and DH

Useable I have 4-

Giro Xar for MTBing
B'twin 500 which I picked up this week for night riding, so I leave a light on it all the time. It's a bargain, only £17 and I'd say on a par with £50 helmets I've had in the past. http://www.decathlon.co.uk/500-bike-helmet-black-id_8328686.html
Cratoni Bullet for road and cross
Mouldy 661 Comp full face for the rare times I do DH these days.

1, a Mavic Syncro.

But, nothing wrong with having more necessarily. If I did more MTB and somehow became a bit more Gnar I could see the sense in a more specific lid. Similarly it's crossed my mind a couple of times to get another one for commuting, if I was doing a shortish urban one every day.

2:

A Uvex Quatro for the off-road shenanigans
A Giro Savant for the on-road shenanigans

Only bought the road helmet because the peak on the Uvex blocked the view ahead when on the road bike.

Oh, and there's also an old Bell Sweep in the spare room that I replaced with the Uvex; nothing wrong with it, so seems a shame to bin it. But.....

Two that fit properly, and three that don't fit properly, so don't get worn.

7iDP M2,
661 Comp full face and
A Kask road lid a friend gave me.

Only other thing I have is a Fox Flux that I replaced with the M2 and not got around to binning yet. To be honest I don't really wear the full face in the UK, I'm just as likely to ride DH in my M2 nowadays.

Tom KP.

Fox Flux without the visor for road.

As I broke the visor taking it off the Flux I bought an Urge something or other in a sale for off-road use.

Jeez you guys are a dream come true for the likes of CRC

I have a fox flux that is now 6 years old, for night rides I put a light mount on it, for commuting I wear a buff under it. I would like a helmet with a better visor and more goggle friendly but I can't seem to justify getting another whilst it still functions.

I'd be worried about the safety performance of a 6 year old EPS helmet personally, but there you go.

Giro something or other XC lid
661 Full face
Bell piss-pot

2x motorbike lids, but neither fits comfortably (I have a huge head, and it's not as circular as most XXL lids), can't sell them because no one buys 2nd hand lids, can't face binning them due to the cost!

I have quite a collection of Lazer helmets. I have a Helium, a Genesis, an O2, a Blade, an Ultrax and a snowboard helmet that I have no idea what it's called. There's also a Bell Volt and a Giro Hex that are both quite old and should probably be binned.

I just found a retro bell helmet circa 92 in my cupboard whilst having a clearout! Anyone fancy it to complete their retro bike look? (disclaimer - its probably not going to keep your head particularly well protected)

Thought I'd ask on here as a long shot. It'll be going in the bin otherwise!
