How many Everests have you climbed on the bike this year?
I'm up to 9.62 so far (85,114 ÷ 8849).
So should hopefully make 10 Everests by the end of the year.
Dunno on the bike but I do approx one Everest a year walking up the stairs to my flat 🙂
4.3 Everest’s need to up my game!
Ran up Kilimanjaro once
Just over 15 this year.
2.3 for me. Not much but it’s a ‘real’ figure this year and hasn’t included any uplifts or chairlifts.
8.6 for me, I think over 90% of that was on a standard bike (rather than ebike). Not too considering I'd pretty much only ridden an ebike for ~3 years before January this year and 8 years on from MS diagnosis. Most elevation I've ridden in a year, just! Really didn't see that coming this time last year...
18.7 apparently. Mainly road bike.
3 and a bit. Last year would of easily doubled that.
10.1 currently.
6.4
9.92 so far, all on 2.5” tyres.
0.47
Mount Toubkal is lovely at this time of year.
I thought it was all about Olympus Mons these days.
4 of those then 😉
12 apparently, lowest by some margin since discovering the South Downs hills between Winchester and South Harting in summer 2017.
85km in elevation in a year! Blinking hell, where do you live? Not trolling by the way, genuinely interested in how people manage that😊
This is a good game.
7.5 for me.
5.65 - it's been a year of medical recovery for me. Lots of that on Zwift.

East Devon, in a valley with a 200m high ridge either side, so most rides start with a decent climb.
Average MTB ride of 40km is probably 800-1000m of climbing.
5.65 – it’s been a year of medical recovery for me. Lots of that on Zwift.
So not then.
Only 4.1 for me this year. Lockdown and the closure of Richmond Park back in the spring reduced me to flat miles where I could get them in.
Not trolling by the way, genuinely interested in how people manage that😊
Live somewhere hilly, ride a few times a week.
So not then.
So effort doesn't count when its indoors? My muscles would disagree with that.
6.5 Everests for me but a fair bit of flat racing on Zwift which is hard work but contributes little to the stats. Gets me fit though!
Ha, just worked mine out for the year so far: 2.7 over 1582km.Live in the middle of the Cairngorms.
22.25, nearly 200,000m of elevation this year. Should reach 23 Everests by the end of the year.
Live somewhere hilly, ride a few times a week.
My everyday normal MTBing can be 350m per hour or more. 5 hours a week, 250 hours of riding a year doing just that gives nearly 10 Everests.
I've done about 200 hours so far but some of it in less hilly places and some on Zwift where I choose flatter riding usually.
12.2 last year, even split road and MTB. Only 6.8 this year, 60:40 gravel:MTB, due to pressure of work plus more time on foot. No ebikes or Zwift, that doesn't count even if you think it does.
Just under 13 biked, just over 2 Run. But apparently my alp de Zwift efforts might not count...
So effort doesn’t count when its indoors? My muscles would disagree with that.
Effort counts, of course. But the OP was about height gain on a bike.
Nit picker.
I bet most of us haven't even been up actual Everest once, so we should answer 0.
I’m scared to look, with an ankle sprain in Jan and the severe Spanish lockdown.
2019 I ran just under ten Everests in my first year of running. Most years I’d do over 5000m a week on the road bike, averaged over the year, so that’s about 30. Not sure how I used to find the time.
My game, my rules 😘
Zwift and ebikes ok, as long as it's flagged as such.
bet most of us haven’t even been up actual Everest once, so we should answer 0.
TBH most of the people that have been up Everest just jumared up a fixed line so not much betterer
Just over 20 for me on the bike. Not sure what the split is between indoor (Rouvy) and outdoor activity is, maybe 50/50 at a guess.
21 and a bit. Hope to make 23 by end of the year.
All on the mtb and no uplift days
17.
495,000 ft climbing, all but maybe a couple of rides on road and gravel bikes, not MTB. All real world riding, no Zwift etc.
Will easily get to 18 by the end of the year, maybe 19 if I actually think about it and find some hilly routes during the Festive 500.
A very quiet year for me - just 8.3 Everests, 73,400m, usually it's around 16 Everests.
Fairly hilly around here, can do 1100m of ascent in just 30km and not go more than 5km from home. Just nipping to the shops and back is 200m of ascent.
8.2 Everests (72,951 / 8849) for me.
All on a MTB around Stirling.
9.35 - quite a bit on road and Zwift. Kids and work limit time to get out on MTB.
Just over 3 so far, mix of road and Zwift...
Can we get in touch with Zwift and get them to create a 1:1 scale replica of Everest with a nice smooth Alpine style road bulldozed up it?
Might need a compact to get up the Hillary Step.
15 so far this year. Need to get the finger out judging by some others on here. First two months of the year I was relegated to the turbo. I don’t count distance or height on a stationary bike. It is exercise but the bike does not move.
13.2 (real) Everests. Might make 14 by the end of the year but I've no intention of ever doing one in a single ride. I did create a graphic last month comparing Everest to half a dozen classic road climbs, like Tourmalet, Angliru, Alto de Letras. It's surprising just how much bigger it is... like going up Tourmalet five times or something like that.
20 so far, all outdoors. 50/50 split MTB and road.
5.8 which is a bit more than most recent years apparently.
I did a solo "everesting" this year! An enjoyable 5hr ride followed by an awful 10hr ride. Would not recommend.
I bet most of us haven’t even been up actual Everest once, so we should answer 0.
Some have 😜

And 4.2 virtual Everests, which ain't bad for the New Forest and not much further this year.
Only 2.6, but then I'm on the edge of the flatlands. A local 35km ride is only about 350m of climbing.
6.3 but that includes some hillwalking. No turbo nonsense though, that's all genuine.

Those stats are mostly a bit disappointing after the last couple of years. Lockdown, Covid, post-Covid. It's all been a bit of a struggle this year.
18.6 for me so far, should make 19 by the end of the year. With the aid of uplifts will also make about 35 everests of descent.
Everests?.........pah, I’ve not even managed a small tussock this year
5 on the bike and 2 running. All real, no virtual, no uplifts
19.5 on the bike (which includes virtual climbing 🙁 ) another 2 on foot.
24.4 so far, aiming for 225k meters by year end. And I live in 'flat' Leicestershire, split equally ish between road and mountain bike.
6.7, mostly on the road bike this year
11 so far vs 8.1 last year so decent improvement.
Similar to Scotroutes - 6.33 at the moment, 56,056m to date this year between biking, running and walking.
Some of these stats are quite impressive.
I’m on 65,000m of climbing which is 7.28 Everests == 126 Metric Mam Tors (which makes me feel a bit better).
3.2 according to Strava, but I only put a fraction of my rides on there. I know how miles I've done overall, so scaling by that, I get 7.6. Probably an over-estimate. The important thing is they were all outside.
6 but I don't record all my rides on Strava. Probably add a couple more for for all my rides I did during lockdown and the ones I do with the kids.
Can't see me doing another by the end of the year as I've lost my motivation for getting wet, muddy and cold. So happy that the gyms and pools are open again so at least I can do some exercise over the winter.
Wow, i take it a lot of folk keep data from rides?!
Can i include uplifts in this one, if so loads, if not, um, best keep quiet!
About 20.4 this year, all outside and about 60% MTB. Might just get to 21 by New Year. Lots (250 so far) of relatively short rides but all my routes around here (Dark Peak) are 25 m/km climb so it soon adds up. I'm still slow though..........
Ive almost done 13 Everests. Im pretty sure i can get it to 13 by the endof the year.
Ive been doing the 100 day challenge on here, and the short after work rides seem to be about 100ft of ascent per mile here in Snowdonia
Off to calculate what i nned to get to 13....
Yeay, its 622m additional climbing to get to 13 Everests
Great thread!
I follow Pavel Sivakov on Strava and he's currently at 62.3 for 2020 (554,054m) 😳
8.6 all outside on MTBs. Mostly off-road too.
None of them were naked ascents.
4.8. All mtb and nearly every meter local due to lockdowns etc.
Wow, i take it a lot of folk keep data from rides?!
It's a feature of Veloviewer which takes its data from Strava so if you log your rides on Strava they get picked up by BB and you get to choose which mountain your ascent is compared against. See Scotroutes' graphic a few posts above.
12.8 mostly single speed 🙂
11.5 for me.
That's taken from Garmin Connect and includes cycling, running and hiking.
8.3, quite a lot of Zwift
Does this include the extra 76cm that has been added to the altitude of everest recently?
Just under 6 this year. Worst that I can remember.
16, but fair amount of winter Zwift in there
Some seriously impressive stats being flung about on here.
I have riden more than I have in a long time, maybe ever and I'm only up to 3.3 Everest's. A mix of local, zwift and even a few days in the Alps up alp d'huez and a couple of others.
I take my hat off to you guys in double figures.
11.3 - hopefully make it to 12 by year end.
Edit: not including my walking, running or stair climbing - and I don't do indoor cycling.
6.66 Everests, better get out this afternoon and nudge that up to a less ominous number...
Is an interesting way to look at your riding, I've averaged 10m in every kilometre, which sort of makes sense as for the first part of the year I was specifically avoiding hills whilst my back recovered, and later in the year I've been doing a lot of CX specific stuff which near me means lots of muddy singletrack next to the canal e.g. pan flat.
In between all that I put in some really good hilly efforts on the gravel bike, but these have been eclipsed by long hours on the dumb turbo (no 'faux' elevation gain 😉 ) or rollers (ditto).
Next year should be good as I potentially move to the foothills of the Campsies/Ochils and ramp up training for the Pyrenees...
Exclusively mtb, I have undertaken a mere 1881km travelled, with not quite 42km ascended. This is apparently 4.8 Everests and 44.7m per km.
I knew my rides have become shorter, but that's quite eye opening. Wont change a thing knowing though, available time is available time.
