A while back I posted a thread about claiming insurance on a wheel that had broken in transit when I lent my road bike to a mate. Anyhow bike now back, wheel replaced, all good.

The shop however didn't switch round my tyres, so today I picked up the old wheel which was apparently beyond repair. They are right, it is as its got a buckle so big it wont turn in the frame. The thing that surprised me however is that they said they also had to replace 2 of the sprocket which had been bent...they showed me them and right enough they were also goosed.

At this point I'm thinking what the hell happened and is my frame also compromised...they said they checked it and it was fine, and on inspection theres not a mark on it, not even a scuff.

So how on earth can a rear wheel and sprocket get damaged beyond repair and the frame is fine? Anyone ever heard of this before?

And would you trust the frame even if there isn't a mark on it?

^^^ That

Someone took the wheel off to put the bike in the car and then ran over it or similar.

Carbon frame?
When I got knocked off my front wheel almost bent in half (ok, I'll find the pic again), but I looked the frame and forks over and they looked fine.
Few weeks of rides later and the cracks began to appear... (though not in the forks, they're still ok)
