so I did a brake bleed a week or two back a got a set of pads covered in fluid.
Thought I'd have a go at letting them sit in alcohol and then lighting them on fire.
and its worked, they seem good on the driveway so going to use them on sunday.
I do a budget vlog on my riding goings-on so heres the link to the vid

You can try isopropyl alcohol/setting on fire etc, but its very rare indeed for a properly contaminated pad to come back to life.

I just hold mine in the flame on the hob for a few minutes, seems to work well.

I clean mine in soapy water as best I could & then dragged them down a long descent a couple of times.

They're cheap enough from the likes of Uber & Fibrax to chuck in the bin and not risk your face

Having had some early budget pads come away from the backing plate, I don't take any chances.

I admire the determination to save £3.99 ! Not for me though, I'd rather go bankrupt.

Not my experience. I suspect it depends what they've got on them. Shimano mineral oil comes out pretty easily with a bit of heat (no need for fire). The problem is that if the calipers are leaking, it'll be replaced by fresh oil pretty quickly.

Yep, I've recommended fire on here before. LBS bloke old me to give it a go. Spray of brake cleaner and woof! No more squeals.

Shut up Dez, he's doing pads not disks! Pads, nah, just replace em.

I put them in the washing machine on a hot wash.
Although, I do wonder how yours are so contaminated, all the stains normally come out with a bit of vanish.

Edit: oh right, mobile view title fail.

The material is porous it will be imbedded in the pad materiel bin them. It will keep sweating out then contaminate the rotors. Bin them.
Im as tight as two coats of paint but I know they are scrap.

Contaminated discs go in the dishwasher! They will come out like new.

Also when bleeding brakes there is usually a plastic block to fit between the calliper and rotor.
It does 2 jobs stops pad contamination (by having to remove them) and pushes the pistons back further than the pads to prevent system overfill.

Does rather assume the rider wants over-fill preventing...

Standard advice on almost every forum I’ve ever read includes ideas about overfilling levers after bleeding to firm up the lever and ‘improve feel’ (minimise modulation). It destroys lever seals in Formula brakes, I wonder if it’s helping Shimano piston seals on their way?

I did think it would be porous so I left the pads in the alcohol for about 10 minutes or so before lighting them.

I lost my bleeding block and had to do them. but ye a replacement block will sourced.

well I'm going to ride them, I can clean the disc off if they do contaminate then just bin the pads and just put new pads in. And It won't kill me at my local of Cannock chase #smallhills

And the mobile view headline reads:

Promised so much, delivered little.
