I have a YT Jeffsy upgraded with a TTX22 coil, 160mm fork and -1.5 degree headset. We recently had a baby so I've been spending a lot of time indoors on the internet rather than out riding and I've been wondering if rather than pushing the Jeffsy to be more bike than it is I might consider a frame swap.

From reviews and reading the geo chart my impression is that the Transition Sentinel is a bit slacker (I'm currently at 64.5 degrees on the Jeffsy), a bit longer and generally a bit more capable while maintaining some trail bike character and liveliness.

I don't think I'll be able to get a test ride any time soon so wondering if anyone has ridden both and can provide some opinions?

(Maybe stealth ad - do you want to swap your size L Sentinel frame for my L Jeffsy + TTX22 shock?)

Mate has a sentinel and i have ridden it a few times. Very capable, more enduro/trail than trail/enduro. Quick steering with the fork offset but still stable enough.

He did however say something about "want more travel" the other day so hmm.

Have you looked at other options? Deviate Highlander 150 might suit...

Sentinel is very nice, but the spire is now the Capra level frame in the range, sentinel is well capable though and between the Capra and Jeffsy.

As both the jeffsy and sentinel run similar suspension design and similar progression rates I’d dare say you’d struggle to notice much difference if you get the similar size.

This is kind of what I think I’m after - not a full on enduro sled but something a bit “more” than what I have.

I guess maybe I want a bit more geometry rather than feeling like I necessarily need more travel if that makes sense. I don’t think I’d consider a Capra for example.

As both the jeffsy and sentinel run similar suspension design and similar progression rates I’d dare say you’d struggle to notice much difference if you get the similar size.

This is my main question I think - would love to hear from folks who have swung a leg over both.

-2 deg headset and offset bushings as well?

That's what I have on my Stage 6. It's great.

Do you have the original or newer Jeffsy? Are you happy with the frame length?

It’s the newer one, I’m fairly happy with the fit (reach etc) but do wonder what a longer wheelbase and slacker head angle would do for the handling.

Well I just went from about 64.8 to about 62.8deg HA and it's made a big difference.

Stick some offset bushings in anyway? Nice and cheap - Bounce make the best I've had.
