im still toying with a new frame.
kind of looking for something that i can build up 1 too size small (18"), in order to be chuckier, 100mm zocchi forks, but a bit burley.
a summer season would be top, except, i would rather it was single speedable, and nicer tubing, and paint.....

how does the geometry/build of the slot dropout inbred compare to that of the 456 and the summer season?

or i could grow up and be happy with what ive got (but thats no fun)

You got a 100mm fork, then you dont really need the 456 cheap as it is, you want it chuckable and SS able, so why not the scandal and save yourself 1 1/2lb in weight.

Don't trust the quoted geometry - brant told me he made them up when I was looking at an inbred and 456.

Having had both, the 456 basically feels the same but is very slightly slacker/slower steering - very very little in it and the weight difference is about 50g IIRC.

I prefer the standard inbred.

Oh yeah, Brant's suggestion for choosing between the 456 and inbred

If you're a bit g@y, the inbred
If you're wheels off the ground, the 456

I believe he'd had a good bit of red wine at the time 🙂

is this with the same fork clubber?
456 is basicly built of burlier tubing?

ide be going wheels up, but im not a porker.

i looked at the scandal, but i kind of fancy trying steel.
ive never ridden one, and it seems like an appropriate time to have a bash....

afaik, the 456 has the same tubeset but uses the same diameter pipe for the tt as the dt, whereas the standard inbred uses a small dia tt.

as for geometry, i guess the head angle is a bit slacker and the bottom of the head tube is a little higher to allow longer travel forks. they don't ride great with a 4" fork on, much better with 5" IMO. 6" is only any good on steep downs. i have a fox TALAS fork on which is ideally suited imo - 100 for the steep ups, 120 for st and 140 for bonkers rocky steep stuff.

i used to run mine with a 100mm zocchi mx comp, and it just didn't quite feel right - as mentioned, much better with the longer fox.

does anyone know if i would have any problems putting a Hope C2 brake caliper into a slot dropout frame?

i seem to remember there is a bit of a space restriction in there?

Olly - Yes, with near enough exactly the same components.

456 IIRC just has a larger dia top tube (as well as some geo differences) hence only a small difference in weight.

I suspect that the C2 might well foul it - they really are pretty chunky (still have them on my retro build!)
