So to stop my cranks unscrewing I was a little over zealous with the loctite. The right-hand crank is stuck fast into the bottom bracket. Any idea how to unloctite it? Put it in hot water?
What strength loctite did you use....medium strength should of been used. Pour some boiling water on it to soften it up then give it a tap with a rubber mallet to 'shock' the threads. You may hear a 'snap' as the loctite/ threads release from each other.
Blow torch if stuck fast as you'll need to get some heat in there. Be careful not to damage the cranks though!
Yep medium. Thanks will do!
Heat.
Check carefully - some threadlock gets harder with heat. Its rare but it is out there to confuse you
We use heat guns at work, like the type you would use for removing gloss paint.
Tapping it or hitting it with a rubber mallet really will help.
Soldering iron. That's how to remove epoxied in ski binding mount screws. Heating's localised and you can crank it up slowly - heat, try and turn, heat some more.
or a hair dryer for a slightly safer option than a blow torch.
Excessively powerful soldering iron is the ideal tool IMO, lots of localised heat.
