I understand the design has changed slightly since they were fragile. I have one on order but how can I tell if it's the new design ? Could someone please a post a pic if possible ? Thank you.

The lower jockey wheel has a lip around it.

The one on the left. Note the raised ridge all the way around. That's what you want. Other jockey is unchanged.

Also make sure to pack out the bearings with a good quality water proof grease!

One on the left looks like a nw design too. Chain will only sit properly with the outer chain plates in the right place... Makes a funny noise and runs rough if it's wrong.

Yep both the new and old design have NW teeth as you say mate and do indeed need the chain to be fitted correctly just like a front NW chainring.

New GX eagle mechs apparently have Alu cage parts now instead of steel to stiffen up the cage.

Old style wheels for reference. I've bought a few and the most recent came with old wheels so they are unfortunately still out there.

Old jockey wheels

I doubt an alloy cage is stiffer than steel though unless the shape has changed significantly.

I've got the old style. What's the issue with them? Thanks

Do SRAM replace the old style?

I haven't checked but I bet my girlfriend's eagle is the old style.

Also interested in the changes apart from the jockey wheel. Mine is not shifting well after a little crash...

Just received it today and I got the new style mech. Worked out at £190 total for mech, cassette, shifter and chain with the 10% Merlin Xmas discount for spending £300.

That undercuts bike-discount.de by £35 so difficult to resist...

It's just what my mechanic told me. I had bent the mech and needed a new one, but he said if I gave him the old one, he might be able to get it swapped anyway. I haven't bothered yet.

I have had my GX Eagle fitted for just over 6 months, with the old style jockey wheels. For the first time this last week, the chain came off the lower jockey wheel.

I have some new style spare ones that are ready to be fitted as a replacement. It is annoying, but other than that has been a pretty good set up.
