How do you guys clean your riding glasses during a ride?

What do you guys use to wipe your riding glasses, if it’s damp and they get some raindrops on them? If I carry a cloth in my pocket, invariably, it also gets wet, and then obviously won’t wipe my glasses dry. And technical clothing is terrible for wiping glasses. Sometimes I carry a dry cloth in a plastic bag.

So what do you all do? Thanks in advance.

If it’s wet I’m usually wearing something that’ll keep it dry-ish.

Lens cloth in one of those small plastic moneybags that banks use for coins.

I use the bag provided with the glasses. Otherwise I use my tie, like George Smiley.

If mine get clarty I usually spray juice on them from my water bottle then wipe them with the back of a muddy glove or jersey.

I go through a lot of Oakleys...

I just ignore raindrops, or give them a shake. You could try rainx on them if it really bothers you

Or the stuff that was in the Megasack draw before Xmas, allegedly designed for slower speeds than RainX

Hmmmm. I didn’t try Visio Dry, but I did try similar products, but I didn’t find them effective enough. So I’d prefer to wipe the glasses with a dry cloth.

If they're really muddy I pour water on to shift the mud and then shake them dryish. Too many scratched lenses to dare wiping them with anything.

Muddy or spackles I take a big mouthful of water from the camelback and mouth spray the things and then shake/blow dry.  I rarely  wipe them when out as it tends to ruin the lenses.

Spray with a water bottle or a mouth full of camelbak and shake vigorously. Never wipe. My Oakleys last me for years.

Nikwax Visorproof is the best treatment I've ever used- it seems a little expensive to buy but it lasts so well that I don't think anyone's ever finished a bottle. Better than any factory finish, the only downer is it lasts a long time so it's really easy to just not notice when it starts to wear off, and you end up in a sort of limbo where it's not working as well as it should but you've not realised yet, and it can stay like that for ages. But when it's reasonably fresh, for like the first 10 rides or so after you treat it depending on how often you wipe it etc, it just helps a lot of crap slide off and also makes wiping easier.

Washing rather than wiping is really effective especially when you've got a good coating...

Mid ride, I think the main issue is a lot of biking fabrics aren't good for cleaning glasses, merino and poly and stuff aren't. And also obviously anything sweaty is bad too so even if you've got a nice wipey layer under a waterproof it'll tend to not do too well. I always carry a wee pack of cheap tissues (because the cheap ones don't have any balsam or perfume or anything and they hold together well, they're just tissue). Wipe glasses then blow nose 😉

30ml spray bottle with diluted multi surface cleaner, spray the dirt off, whack glasses on the grips to shake off the excess fluid. Rainx helps with the second stage but is not essential.

I put a spare lens cloth in a dog poo bag and then put that in one of the side pockets of my hip pack..

I've used the Nikwax stuff and found it pretty pointless as it doesn't seem to help at all.

I'll be trying the Visio Dry stuff when it arrives. (prize from the Megasack)

I generally flick any big lumps of dirt off then splash a bit of water on and shake off.

On the goggle front I've been using Armor Vision film and it works really well.

Anything that doesn't clear when I'm riding can just be wiped off with whatever is to hand and vaguely suitable.

Seems really scratch proof* so far and can be removed from the lens without leaving any marks when it stops working or gets too scratched.

* Tested with wire wool according to Armor Vision. I've not gone that far.

Small, damp sponge in a plastic bag? Use to use that in my enduro (motorcycle) days.

These look really interesting (for what looks like a sheet of sticky backed plastic). They aren’t even taking the piss with the price. Going to order a set and give them a go (only proper review I’ve found was very positive too)

P1ss on them.

Better than any lense spray. After a good shake - crystal clear and streak free.

Don't bother unless it is large blobs of mud, then I just flick that off the lenses.

I saw a video the other day of how they can keep professional camera lenses clear when filming in heavy rain and snow blizzards. They're  motorised and spin really fast to keep them clear! Maybe this is the future for riding glasses!!!

Some motorcycle gloves come with a small rubber spine/squeegee on the left index finger so you can windscreen wiper your visor while you're riding.*

Shame you can't get a small version for goggles. Could work.

*Try to remember this when scratching an itch in your eye!

Definitely glasses. But also depends on age I guess too. Reading the PSA thread, lots here probably need to give their nobs an extra good shake.

*Urine also has a natural demisting effect on glasses too.

So does saliva: so if urine doesn’t quite cut it give them a lick to maximise results.
