I went to do a bit of the old maintenance last night to find that my front wheel has seized up so tight that with the wheel out of the forks the hub can't be turned by hand.
I figured it would just be a case of cleaning up the hub and putting some new ball bearings but I can't even get the end caps off the hub... There are no spanner flats, bolts etc to be seen. The caps seem to be loosely press fit onto the ends of the hub shell. I've tried pulling at it with pipe grips, levering from the inside with a screwdriver to no avail.
It's an OEM hub that came with the bike and I can't seem to find the exact one on the Shimano tech docs site. Any one here have any pointers?
Thanks!
It should have a number on it somewhere, HB-M something?
I think it did originally but it seems to have worn off. I've been through all of the tech docs on shimano's site and none of them seem to be the same. It came of an 09 Marin Rocky Ridge
Try speaking to the tech guys at Madison, usually very helpful.
Thanks, I'll give them a shot
The first thing they will more than likely ask is what model number is it 😀

what bike?
09 Marin Rocky Ridge.
