Pretty sure that's not an 08 model.
I've got an '08 Meta 5.5.2 XT and Commencal is written on the swingarm with a very large 55 on the downtube....so effectively the other way round to yours.

09 onwards in the tech books also have the colour of the models
http://www.commencal-store.co.uk/PBCPPlayer.asp?ID=1349650

Serial numbers normally give you a year code in there best just mailing Commencal direct
http://www.commencal-store.co.uk/PBSCCatalog.asp?ActionID=67174912&PBCATID=2017724
not much choice in the swingarm department

I've had an 08, an 09 & (still got) an 11.

07's & earlier had a different swingarm.
10's and onwards had a different style of dropouts.
The gussets by the head tube on my 08 had no cut outs in them
The gussets in my 09 had cut outs like yours has and the downtube gusset was beefier, like yours.
Yours therefore looks like an 09 to me though I don't remember that colourway.

09's were prone to cracking along the top of the weld where the top tube meets the seat tube. Keep an eye on it.

But great bikes to ride. Put lots of smiles on my face.

P.S. Don't think there was any difference between the 08 & 09 swingarm apart from maybe the colours.

See, that looks like an 'older' (pre latest model) swing arm.
Like mine...

I emailed you back, BTW..

The XT was a 2008 special edition. Pretty sure Pook's is a 2009.

Definitely a 2009
I'm 100% sure of that
Graphics and the greyer coloured linkage (it had a stiffer interlocking central rod) give it away
Think that colour was the frame only option, although if it's as matt black as the pic makes it look maybe it's been resprayed, 09 sticker kits where freely available and sold off cheap by places like Real Cycles who overstocked

Madison did a Shimano special edition in 09 as well but it wasn't as good value compared to the usual models as the 08 one (which for the spec compared to the 55.2 was a good deal) as I think prices for Shimano kit increased quite a bit around that time

08 & 09 swing arms are identical anyway (and maybe also '10 I forget)

Rear swing arm, maybe try to find a carbon one cheap, they did have some on Commencal web store a while ago

'10 swingarms had different dropouts. Other than that they're the same.
