in comparison to cycling.
went walking from Ogden water this morning.
5 miles of a 20 mile route that i cycles quite often.
last 2 miles is down a rocky cobbled descent that is ridden at mach1.

my god, walking down it was torture...........i hate walking.

😆

Walking's great. You take more things in like scenery and wildlife rather than looking at the trail in front of your wheel.
Chill out man. 😀

Try being fit and try walking in places where you can't take a bike.

I guess you either "get it" or you don't.

For me, walking will always be my favourite - biking only took over due to problems with my feet.

(Mr MC posting)

you get plenty of time to take in the scenery walking as in 4 hours it hasnt bl**dy changed!

walking's what I do when I have a mechanical I can't fix.

As for running, only when chased by wild dogs.

😀

Think of it as an excuse to buy some new footwear.

Walking is great if you set out to accomplish (conquer) something you get a great buzz reaching the top, Tryfan best hill in Wales.

Very crap. Only time I "enjoy" walking is when my legs give in on a long climb.

ive made the mistake of walking bike routes. i tend to walk where i cant ride. it is hard to shift perspective sometimes. walking is full of delights. a quiet walk in the woods at dawn or sunset is just what i need sometimes. also big walks in the himalayas....def no bikey there!

Walk in the places where you can't ride. Especially big mountains, then you'll understand 🙂
Snowdonia, Torridon, Lakes etc etc. It's all good

Walk in the places where you can't ride

these places exist?
most footpaths I have ever seen would be improved with a bike wheel on them.
Certainly better that the 4x4x4x4x4 sh1te driving all over derbyshire anyhow

No. There really aren't any places you'd not be better off with a bike.

Not everyone can ride so walking is a godsend to those!

When you're 90 you'll be happy if you can still walk unaided!

Ton - I call you bullshine on both.
Absolutely not cycleable in that pic - its was scrambling and via ferratta in places.

I thought you considers 40 miles a long ride? Ridden a 24 hr solo have you? How far did you get.

Don't bother willy waving. Mines bigger than yours.

Walking is chil time. You can hike up hills you can't ride up. Better in the big hills though.

so that'll be the Yak attack race in the himalayas then 😉

Over 400km of some of the most brutal mountain biking trails on earth
Nearly all that have finished have described it as the toughest event they have ever done
It destroys bikes, devours bodies and breaks minds
In 4 years only 8 international riders have finished without assistance
Over 9000m of climbing, peaking at 5416m
Its mountain biking in the Himalaya, its YAK ATTACK.!!!!

I enjoy walking but prefer riding for the buzz, however you cant do Pen-Y-Ghent or Inglebrough on a bike (legally) and I like to do them once a year at least.

Its being outdoors you should appreciate tbh.

Stop the willy waving too 😛

so the lap was maybe more than 6 miles....... and it took you between 1hr 20 and 1 hr 40 a lap.

so 7miles x 9 laps is??????????

teej.............you there? 😆

Ton - I did around 65 miles at the puffer - 26th out of 42 solos. I challenge you to get a better placing than that.

Far far harder than the 90 ish miles I rode at sits a couple of years ago. Far far harder than 100+ miles the road.

Actually the hardest thing physically I have ever done.
