I have agreed to convert my double garage into a family room, in exchange for a wooden workshop in the garden. What size do you reckon I need to store and work on my bikes? I have:
My 2 bikes
Wife's bike
2 kids bikes
Workstand.
I have a concrete pad that is 19ft x 12ft with an old shed on it (9x4ft) which ideally I would also keep as a store shed on the pad.
Any thoughts/reccommendations welcome.

Exceptionally good security.
whatever you can fit on the pad.
I'm guessing you'll end up with something like 14x10 or the like...
I have an 8x4 which is cramped with 4 bikes and normal shed duties. No room for a workstand.
Bigger the better. Make sure you put a shadow board up for tools too 😉
Just for doing work - not storing - I have a 12'x6' DIY shed
Just about the right size I reckon

Don't be silly, my shed is 12' x 24' and it still not big enough.
My storage shed is 10m x 5m and fully heated 🙂
The other one is just the workshop
:-(((((. Going from my heated double garage is going to be bad, isn't it???
As for security, I know there is never enough, but there will be 3 locked doors and 2 hedges between the road and my non-overlooked, tucked away workshop. One of the benefits of living in the countryside!
use the whole pad and move the current shed elsewhere if you have enough space.
that'll give you plenty of room to store bikes and move around without worrying about knocking things over.
Ideally I would use the whole pad, but my garden slopes fairly steeply, and i would need to make a new pad for it. Plus I'm not sure how much movement the old shed would take.

I think this is the one for me 16x10 with a solid T&G floor.
Why not put the "family room" on the pad and keep the double garage?
Onzadog, you've obviously not met my wife!!
The garage connects to the house, whereas the pad is on a lower level.
