Is the red a boggy mess other than the armoured parts, looking at a trundle tomorrow...

I was there last week. Red 2 is worth a miss unless you have an ouboard, but the rest was fine.

I imagine it's bloody awful. I'll find out about 11am.

I was there this morning, did the complete red/blue route twice.

It's very wet, but once you get over that and get riding it's ok. It's not slow, I picked up 31 Strava PR's 😀

Probably not a good idea to take your best bike though, and take some dry clothes to change into once you are done.

Lol I'm not falling for that one again! Suffice it to say that a couple of sections are less good in the wet these days.

Sorry lustyd hadn't seen this or I'd have posted. I was also there yesterday morning and found it a fair slog in places, not even close to PR pace. I obviously missed Kryton57s lines!

haha I was refering to a thread on Facebook last week where I was told in no uncertain terms to never ever question the trail building gods, their methods or their materials. I was told this by lots of people, and told that regardless how badly the maintained trails ride I should be thankful for their efforts.
I even started the post by saying that I was grateful for their time and energy, but to no avail. Apparently the whole place will be knee deep ginger shite this time next year, although at least with all the metal from our bikes being ground away I guess it might become firmer. FWIW I quite enjoy the real mud of Red 3...

The freewheel on my Singlespeed seized solid after the last few rides. I’ve just soaked it in Putoline chain wax to try and hold back the ginge. Contemplating putting the rigid forks back on but the open bath Marzzochi seem to be holding up well.
It’s still better than road riding.

To be able to ride fast after many days of horendous rain is a blessing. I was with Kryton the other day, and yes the bikes got coated in sand, but it wasn’t really any slower than in the dry. After the previous week of slogging through deep woodland/bridleway mud I was happy for a change.
