Aviva Plus have hiked prices up somewhat, done a quick quote on meerkats and surprise surprise nothing beating it.

Looks like I'll be staying put but any other companies giving as good a cover as Aviva?

Should add that need outbuildings to be covered well, some companies put a limit on them.

Cheers,

TIA.

I'm with Aviva Plus and nearly changed last month at renewal. As with you the renewal cost has gone up, but then so have everyone.

Glad I didn't considering last weekend..

I moved from Aviva to admiral last month. Aviva wanted about a 25% premium increase despite never claiming. Admiral matched my expiring premium for the same level of cover

Aviva plus went up by 25% for me.  Moved to Tesco insurance.  Bike cover is decent, but only up to £1500 or £2000 per bike - fine for me, but might be low for many here!

Just renewed with esure, went up about 20% but I've got £16k of bikes as specified items for about £100, no one else came close.

Conversely I was with LV and their price increased massively come renewal time, and the best alternative were Aviva, who were cheaper than than the original amount I paid LV the previous year 🤷‍♂️

I think they're all just making it up TBH, same with car insurance.

Still with Halifax after my annual renewal came in at £29 more… about 4%.   I have House contents and 5 bikes plus a watch on there now, the edition of my two most expensive bikes was half the price of the cheapest dedicated bike insurance, same cover.

M and S look like the best bet for me. As one bike is over £5k, they cover it.  When shopping around a lot of insurance companies have a limit of £5k for an individual bike.

Same as jeffl - we have also been with LV, been very responsive when needed (small bathroom flooding emergency a few years ago) and good bike cover, however out of the blue price went up by 50%. "Are you mental?" was the gist of my question to them on the phone. Our LV multicar insurance, inc. teenager, stated the same weirdly.

They did state that as I was a valued customer they would offer me a, brace yourselves, £10 discount as they wanted to keep my business. "Obviously, no you don't".

Thing is, LV have been great on the 3 times we actually needed them over the years (1 for house, 2 for car), and I am loath to change to mucho cheapo as my experience with supporting other members of the family who have been through months of torture with those types has been absolutely awful.

So, based on Which? (I do like which), we went with NFU for house and contents. Again good bike cover (inc 2x expensive eebs), better general cover than LV, and cheaper than we were paying LV before. Mental.

And we get automatically covered for stabling and livestock, which is really handy for us in a our small densely populated urban housing estate with a dog and 2 guinea pigs 🙂

Thanks folks.

I'll try some of those, just to say again that I will need decent outbuildings cover. Some companies have a lowish limit.

Same with Aviva here. I went with QuoteMeHappy - Premium was still about £100 cheaper than Aviva renewal, seemingly same level of cover (and 5 star DeFaqto rating)

Yep, I was with LV and they have more than doubled on Meerkat and when I call them they "can't make any changes to the policy as it was done through a broker" for a re-quote. Been trying to get hold of them for 3 days now.

Meerkat shows Frontier Home Essentials as being the best cover, but I've never heard of them. Aviva is £80 more than them, but I am inclined to go with an establish3ed company.

This thread is relevant to my interests, RSA are getting out of the insurance game it would appear, and no one else is particularly keen on insuring expensive bikes. Covea are the only ones that have agreed so far, but with a load of security stipulations and a 150% increased premium 😩

Anyone got any recommendations for companies that will cover (multiple) £10k+ bikes?

Yeah yeah, flame away.

After years with a Broker due to Flooding history & many bikes, we witched to M&S as we've moved & the flooding is a distant memory.

Went premium on everything & still saved £300 on the broker renewal & now get cover for bikes world wide which closed out another issue with bike insurance for our annual trip to Majorca.

I didn't fully understand the website so I called. The lady said we only need to specify the value of the most expensive & all other bikes are covered. Also, she said at home the bikes are classed as possessions & only regarded as bikes away from home.

Also selected 10k cover away from home, as we'll only ever take two.

Halifix don’t care as long as you have mortice locks on the doors and locks on the windows.   They told be the bikes didn’t even need to be locked together, although mine are.  The maximum non-individualised item cover was £1000 per item.

M+S 25% rise in premium here. But they offer the cover I want. So I am not alone then?

Hmm

I might be an outlier here, car insurance went up £14 last month (Adrian Flux)  just got my house renewal.quote from Aviva, that's gone up £10.

I've enough NCD on both, 18 and 8 years respectively, that another year shouldn't make much difference

For those interested, I went with M&S, a single bike up to £15k is covered, up to £50k for the whole squadron, away from home too.

£1200pa, up from £650 with RSA.

I’m about to head into this as Sainsbury’s have contacted me to say they aren’t offering me renewal terms at all, but no reason given.  Usual house cover needed and a fleet of five bikes, the most expensive probably £2k, down to £200.
