Hi just bought some new pads for my hope x2 discs. This is the first time i have ever changed any disc brake pads and when i went to insert them they would not fit because the pot was set to my old worn out pads, do i need to bleed the brakes to make the pads fit?
Please Help and thanks in advance.
No, just get a plastic tyre lever in between the pistons to push them back in before fitting the pads. Don't use metal levers as you can scratch the pistons.
Better still than tyre lever - take a wooden clothes peg apart and use the two wooden wedges in opposition to gently push the pads in.
clean around the pistons and apply a drop of silicone lube around them, not too much tho, and make sure you push them back in squarely. clean off any excess silicone and fit pads...
Wooden spatula from the kitchen toolbox is perfect for the job of pushing pistons back in 8)
