smudge I'm not sure of the capacity, there are some letters printed on the casing but nothing that conveys much info. Exposure say they use Sanyo batteries but it has no name on it, though it is the right colour going by the sanyo 18650's that come up in google image search. I'll email you anyway.

Picked mine up from the sorting office today. I will try it at Plymbridge tonight with the original Dominator and a Magicshine XML. Look out for the reports of ball lightning on the lower moor.

Hi troutie, if you remember mine was the hope 4 you modded. It's working great but the buttons come loose, is it safe to open the back to POP it back in? Also got a bigger battery, can I up the output?

Cheers

Mark

Wow I cant remember what I did to yours but glad its working still

yes do what ever is needed to secure the switch
Going to revisit the 4 as I have a cunning plan as to upgrading it
now new leds and drivers are available

Be very careful if you unscrew the front bezal as the optic could turn and rip off the led domes

I think it has a Maxflex so you could bump it to 1200 or 1300 ma if it is the one I think it is

cool

Athe moment the only way to turn it on and off is to plug/unplug the battery

Right stupid question day, how do I alter the maxflex?

a step by step idiot guide would be appreciated

cheers

Hi Chris, I am very frustrated at not yet being able to try out my light you sent back last week, work and other issues have prevented me from having a night ride. Will do so in the next couple of days, but as everyone has said, fantastic service from Mr. Trout and it is blinding (almost literally) indoors!

p.s. can I get early on the list for having a Hope 4 Trouted?

Trout - the upgrade is excellent. The Hope 2 casing was always my favourite looking light and now it outshines all the others. With the cheapy Magicshine on my helmet I can't imagine needing anymore light. At least not until you post details of your Hope Vision 4 conversion.

Any offers for my old L & M HIDs or L & M Seca 700 as they just aren't up to the job anymore.

Could the Vision 2 be upgraded and also modified to use the AyUp battery pack?

(Got heaps of AyUp batteries and my Hope batteries have died)

First ride on my TroutVision2.

Before I got Trouted I had just bought a Hope R4, the TroutVision is at least as bright. Bring on the night 🙂

Last night's ride out of Clapham in sloppy slippy Yorkshire solicited admiring glances to the Trouted Hope2 and a direct comparison with a Hope2 Mk2 which it wee'd on from a very great height. As a result my mate is seriously considering the upgrade.

Finally got to try the light out- fantastic. Spent about 50:50 between high and medium over nearly two hours and no sign of reducing light level when on high. Very happy- thanks Chris!!

Hope Vision 4 upgrade
I know this is Hope 2 thread but I couldn't find one for the Vision 4 upgrade. I have 2008 model with rev 3 PCB and what I think are SSC P7. I've ordered some Cree XM-L T6 and a U2 from Cutter on a 10mm MPC. I'm pretty sure I can get this to work as straight swap with same current and optics with a increase of 960 lm to about 1500.

Does anyone have a schematic to share so I can look at boosting the current slightly? I'd want to check the series I sense resitor value and the FET etc ratings for safe operating area. I've got the Linear Tech v reg datasheet but any other knowledge gratefully received.

Hi Mr Electric
any idea what current is going through the leds of the standard Hope .

I have just put my last Lflex driver in the hope 4 and about to test it in the woods
putting 1.5 amps in to 4 XMLs so about 2200 lupins in theory

sounds like new drivers on the way, may start getting excited to see what magic happens to my joystick now....

trout - any thoughts on how long a new battery will last with the new driver and LED?

Can I get on the vision 4 upgrade list? Quite fancy some more light from mine and a higher kelvin temp led as well.
Find it a bit yellow now.

Light received with thanks Troutie.

Still not had a chance to get out, but the 'bedroom with the lights out test' first impressions seem very good.

Thanks again.

Where's the best place to get Xmls from now? I want to upgrade my homemade luxeon rebel star based light, and ultraleds seem to have dropped out of the market now.

Cheers

Quick update on the original Hope2 upgrade. Finally went out last night for a longer ride. Hope battery lasted about 4 hours, cycling between low and medium, and occasionally high. Not bad when even low is brighter than the old high power, which would last 1:45.

Slight negative point - the old system would flash when the battery got a to a certain level, then only stay on low. I don't think it did that last night, just went a bit dull for maybe 15 minutes, then off completely. Luckily, I had a helment light on too, so wasn't left stranded at the wrong moment!

Drivers arrived today for anyone wanting the upgrade.

Ir bandito

I forgot that the driver can be programmed to flash the led when it reaches half depleted and also nearly dead

I've also posted this in the Hope 4 thread as I'm not sure which one is 'active'...

I'd just like to give a shout of thanks to Troutie for XML'ing my Hope
Vision 4 lights. They've gone from 960 lumens to around 2000 on max!!!
I've only had the chance to try them out once but the light level and
spread is fantastic, far superior to how they were before hand. Cheers
Troutie - highly recommended!

Nice 🙂

That one looks far too shiny to be mine, but I hope (EDIT - damn the accidental pun) it's getting the Trout inside sticker too.

Have emailed you an address to send it to and I'm hoping the postie will bring it to me in time for a winter solstice ride.
