Hallo! I want to buy these brakes.
Do they have enough stopping power? I know that they have great modulation. I read that they have a rather mellow decceleration, that gives sore hands in long descents. (because you have to push hard the levers)
The use will be enduro and dh.
How do they compare to guide, code, mt5/7, zee/saint ?
They are more reliable than all of thise brakes.
The enduro mag review was bollocks, theres no way with the same lever and bigger pistons that the V4 is going to decelerate slower than the E4. If it is the pad, as they suggested, then EBC Pros should cure any bite issues.
I bought a front one on Sunday with a 203 disk. I'm very impressed with it (as I have been with all of Hope brakes over the years). I certainly wouldn't want any more stopping power.

There's an element of truth in that depending on what you're used to. The Hopes have a meaty lever pull which, depending on how you brake, can be interpreted as amazing modulation or lack of bite. The heavy pull can get tiresome on long descents.

Ultimately no more or less powerful than Zee/Saint but with a more tactile lever and (arguably) better quality control/ more consistent behaviour.
Back-to-back the Hopes have a startling lack of bite when comfort braking but I soon get used to it. By the same token Zee/Saint feel really grabby after the Hopes.

The power/bite is for quite a large part down to the pads.
Had some sintered pads in, changed to the uberbike race matrix pads, much better
I can't help you with the Hopes, but if you fancy going leftfield Maguras are absolutely excellent. I went from Zee's to MT5's a few months ago.
They're on my enduro bike with the 1 finger levers, doddle to set up and bleed, huge power (at least equal to zee), excellent modulation, plenty of spares available if required. Mineral oil non-toxic, another bonus. Only negative is a bit plastic-y, but they're brakes. I care about their performance, not what colour they are or whether or not they are shiny. Reliability so far so good - I smashed a lever in a crash (and half the reservoir behind it), I don't think any brake would have stood a chance. Replacement was £50.
Liked them so much my other bike now has MT Trails (dual caliper front, single caliper rear). Also superb.
Thank you for the answers! A few more questions:
-the pads have enough clearance with the rotor? (i heard somewhere that it is easy to rub in the rotor)
-the lever throw can be set to be very low? I like the lever to engage within almost 1cm of lever throw.
-where did you buy them from?
Ubyk have good prices on them, and the adjustments will allow you to set the throw however you want, you can make it very short
I'm hoing to echo ehrob, MT5's with the HC single finger upgrade are fantastic.
Just bought a second pair for a new bike, to replace the Guides it came with.
