Building up a 29er (Solaris) and have been contemplating wheels, my other bikes are all on Stan's wheels (Flows/Arches) and the choice would of been Arches/Crests.

However, Hope have ceased building Arches/Crests and the custom build route is significantly more than the Hope Tech XC offering.

Whilst there is no question about the hubs, has anyone had any experience with the rims, both in longevity/strength and also running them tubeless (Stan's are fairly straight forward)

I have a set on my fully rigid Ritchey p29 and can't fault them so far! taken all the abuse dished out and still running true..

Pretty easy to set up tubeless with racing ralphs.... they do remind me of my old stan crest rims funnily but much better with the eyelets!

Very good Wheels. On a par at least with Stans FLOW.

Shameful plug, but I actually have a brand new set (unused) of Tech Enduro that may be available in the next couple of weeks. Taped ready to go, just need valves.(QR rear and 15mm front). They may be surplus to requirements. Will sell cheaper than any online price still with warranty as only a couple of months old. Let me know if interested.

Heavy, Robust, easy to go up tubeless, there was a thread on here awhile back, suggesting that they might be tricky, but a loop of fabric rim tape and then stans saw mine go up first time.

Heavy.

They build into bloody strong wheels though, noticeably less deflect on them to the Pacenti rims I had on before

Did I mention they're heavy?

Strange about the heavy comment:

Crests (380g)
Arch EX (460g)
Tech XC (395g)

So if hubs/rims are equal, then there should be no difference (unless Hope/Stan's are telling porkies).

Mine built up with Tesla Hubs are 960(ish)g front and about 1100(ish) rear. with 2.3 minions (about 800g each) making the whole lot at 3.6kg (about 8lbs)

So yeah, heavy... 😀

I've got a pair on pro evo2 hubs on my Solaris but running them tubed. No issues with mine and not found them heavy but then I've only really my previous 29ers stock Spesh wheels to compare the weight with. (I'm a xc racing snake though btw)

I've the Hope XC wheels on my Solaris. Running tubeless with Bontrager XR4 up front and XR3 at the rear. Not had any problems with them. Have used them for everything from the Yorkshire Dales 300 to spending the last week in Chamonix on the big trails and was fine if a little slower than those on FS rigs. (this latter may have been due to me being a wuss going downhill!)

Weight wise they aren't that different from any other wheelset in that price range, of course it does depend on how the weight is distributed - 100 grammes extra on the rim is somewhat different to 100 grammes at the hub.

I also have Hope Tech XCs on my Solaris. I bought the bike second hand and had to get the rear trued but now that's sorted I can't fault them. I've given them a thrashing down some rocky descents recently and they have handled it fine.

Currently running them with tubes and wouldn't say they are heavy.

So not Hope XC wheels at all then just rims built onto someone elses hubs. Not a fair comparison really!

From those numbers sounds more like the tyres that are heavy!

I have Hope XC's on my Solaris as well, got them through 18bikes with red hubs. No problems whatsoever so far and tubeless no problem with Racing Ralph and Rocket Ron.

Nixie, TBH the hubs are probably a bit lighter than their Hope equivalents. Perhaps I should have said, in comparison to the rims that the hubs were built onto last, they're heavier. Better? 😆

Wrecked my front XC 29" rim on one uplift day at Innerleithen so changed to Enduro rims and no problems in eight months.
I may just have been unlucky with the front one.
I still have my damaged XC wheelset and will probably rebuild the front and use them for general trail use.
I also have a set of XC's in 26" flavour and they have been faultless.

Ended up with the Hope Tech XC's, bit fiddly to get the tape applied, as the rim profile has an extra lip against the inside of the tyre bead. Tyres went up first time with a flash charger.

Will certainly be considering the enduro rims for the trance.
