I got these brakes second hand. I rebuild them with new seals and pistons, left pads as they looked near new. Problem is they don't have a great deal of inital bite, they have power but you need alot of lever pull to get it. I had this with some deore brakes and they were and still are great, better than the x2. Is hope the best pad for these brakes? The price puts me off, £14 an end. Any better good performing pads out there? I like the look of superstar bundle deals but after searching seems alot of bad reviews on them, or more focused on the company/owner

You need to ensure rotor is centred between pads

Then make sure that the pistons hit the rotor together

Look on hope website for videos on how to set em up properly and also how to bed the pads in

Great brakes but not on/off like shimano - lots of feel

I'm using discobrakes semi-sintered pads in the x2's on my HT, I weigh around 16st and they stop me ok.
What tmb467 said re set up.

Is it ok to use sintered pads in dry and wet conditions?

Are they tech levers or tech EVO? I bought a second hand set for the wife from a guy who said he couldn't make them work.

I found the cam face had worn a flat where it pushes on the piston head. Replaced these with the EVO roller cam, set them up properly with a good bleed, they're awesome.

Sintered pads all year are fine.

They are tech. Everything looked fine when I rebuilt them

Did you specifically look at the cam? It's a subtle defect. I've spotted it on other people'sbrakes when tthey didn't know it was there. Different story when you know what to look for.

They looked fine, but I don't know what a new one looks like to compair it with a used one. Do you have a pic of an old and new cam? If its cheap may as well upgrade them. Thinking of braided hoses to? Fitted them to my swore brakes and gave a much firmer lever
