Does anyone know if the Hope tech M4 caliper can swap the banjo and bleed nipples?
The banjo is currently to the side with the bleed nipple at the top, but it would be better located the other way around with the banjo at the top and bleed nipple at the side.
The newer Tech 3 M4 caliper has this arrangement.
This is on a rear caliper just for clarity.
The routing on the frame guides the hose to the top of the caliper, which is how the oiginal XT brakes were routed and set up?
I know the banjo and bleed nipple will fit in each others holes but is there anything else preventing me from doing this?

Oh never thought of that, try and test it out?

No reason why it shouldn't, all the parts are subjected to the same pressure etc.

Looks like you could potentially get some interference between the hose on rotor, but if you're frame's set up for this routing then it'll probably be fine.

Might need to unbolt the caliper and orient it with the new bleed nipple as the highest point of the caliper (or highest point of the whole system for best results), otherwise there's a risk of trapping an air bubble around the old bleed nipple/new banjo location. This is assuming you're bleeding from master cylinder to caliper. If you pump fluid from caliper to master cylinder then it shouldn't make any difference.

Hope say it's not possible due to the caliper body having different machining in the holes.
I might give it a try though and see if I can get them to bleed. Good point about the bleeding Neilc, I will take that into consideration.

EDIT: It doesn't look like the bleed nipple will seat properly in the banjo hole. The banjo goes on a treat though but it looks like I will have to use the original routings or get an E4 caliper body

Bottom of the nipple hole is V-shaped, banjo hole isn't. I have a vague recollection of trying this in an old caliper and the nipple bottomed out before it would seal.

YMMV.

@teethhgrinder - looks like you have it there. It doesn't seat properly in the banjo hole.
Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Looks like the new E4 caliper will have to wait as I've discovered a crack in the master cylinder body! Any one got a Tech master cylinder body going spare?

Take some pics and send it to hope, I had a 7 year old e4 caliper replaced foc recently. Admittedly it was a “second” but I can’t see anything wrong with it and it was free.
