Just a question on their tech levers. Theres tech x2, tech evo and tech 3
I've a set of tech evo M4's in standard colours and ive swoped out the lever covers for blue, but cannot find a lever in blue denotes to tech or tech evo, which on the hope chart is the same. Tech 3 is listed as a different lever.
They look very similar in how they would fit, but theres no point in buying if they dont.
Anyone point me in the direction of a pair of hope tech levers for the x2/m4 evo or have any experience of them >
Ta 🙂
I don’t think the tech/evo came in anything but silver body with black lever and then optional (after) coloured res caps where as the tech 3 comes in all the current hope colours. As for the m4/x2 Calipers I don’t see any reason why they would not work with the tech3 lever if you wanted the coloured lever. Or you could add coloured bite point and reach adjusters along with res caps and bore caps on the Calipers to your current set, will be cheaper too.
As for function I have always liked the 4 pot Calipers but then in 6’1 and 17 stone. I recently built up my first 29er using tech x2 brakes and if I’m honest for me even on 203/183 rotors the front isn’t powerful enough. But I have a set of tech m4s so I think I’m going to swap the front to an m4 and see how that goes. HTH
Ive just swapped my race evo M4 lever over for tech3s (wanted bite adjustment)
works great
Excellent some replies.
Ach, it's you Tim 8)
Rampage on Retrobike reano'd my last lot on my X2's in purple, but that was before the evo was released, and that came in assorted colours. Just hard finding the lavers that say tech and not tech 3. I was about to phone Hope to check direct, but I think Kimbers just answered it for me.
I'll concur the X2's seem to lack oomph, and comparing them backwards down the line, mono mini(black) to C2's they always had impressive power. I thought i was alone in thinking the brake lacked power.
Or you reckon thats down to the lever, with its multiple diaphragms 😕
