Hi guys,

I have just got some new Hope Tech lever blades and I am trying to remove the ones currently installed and I am having problems.

So far I have removed the little grub screw as per Hopes instructions, and I have an allen key in both the lever pivot and lever pivot screw (HBSP 222 & 223) but it doesn't matter which way I turn either allen key, the pivots will not unscrew?

What am I doing wrong please, any ideas?

Can't figure why you'd have a problem unless you've stripped a thread by vastly overtightening it,hold one key steady and turn the other anti-clockwise and it should enscrew.

The levers that are on there at the moment are new ones, factory fitted as I haven't yet used these brakes.

I have just had a go at the other brake and this is the same too? I haven't vastly overtightned anything, they just dont want to move?

When I am turning either allen key I can feel something turning and then it jumps, then it turns, jumps, turns etc.... but neither pivot moves in or out?

Surely both my factory fitted brakes can't be borked?

Strange, you are using the correct size keys are you, sounds like the key is slipping to me.

Thats what it feels like to me too?

Does it matter which end you hold still and which end you turn?

Nope, shouldn't make a difference. Try setting the lever vertically so you can see both bolt heads when you turn them,if one head rotates whilst the key doesn't then you know it's slipping for sure.

Thanks coatesy, I have now solved the problem on one of the levers, haven't yet tried the other.

I think one of the allen keys was a fraction too small, it seemed to fit like normal but the whole slipping thing and your comment about the size, I hunted down another set of keys and its just unscrewed, so you have my thanks dear sir, top banana 😀
