Are people still having leaky piston & seals issues with these?
I know there's a couple of threads already with lots of reviews but I can't find them and they've been out a while now.
I’ve got three sets - no problems with any of them.
Two sets without any issues so far 👍
One. No issues at all.
One set since last December, they've been bullet proof.
One set, put on the bike yesterday.
Faultless so far and look awesome
Tech4-X2 on two bikes. No issues.
Tech3–E4 on another and I do get a sticky piston on the rear calliper.
E4s here since early in the year. Done France, DYFI, BPW as well as usual trails, no issues this far.
I had the same piston sticking on the tech3-e4, I chucked the phenolic pistons and fitted hybrid stainless/phenolic ones instead, no issues so far.
Only a couple of months on my Tech4s but same flawless reliability I've always had with Hope. Very happy with them!
We've got 3 sets, oldest probably 18 months now. The middle set, which is about 12 months old, I had to replace the primary seal in the lever, which was easy to do but annoying. The others have been issued free and they're ace brakes.
Cheers guys, things may be getting expensive soon 😂
Tech 4 E4's here. Flawless from new. Remember people don't post when they don't have problems so you hear about the broken ones more often.
Wasn't it the V4 that was failing more than the E4?
V4s, bought around March, tip-top.
Genuinely impressed each time I ride.
tech4 e4s , had em for >18mths always been faultless, love them
Tech4 E4 here & no problems whatsoever in over a year of daily use.
Tech 4 V4’s for 12 months, haven’t skipped a beat. For balance my mate has really struggled to get a consistent bleed on his. He has the bike wheels off in his car a lot - I think the big thread had a few that did this that were also having issues. I also put tech 4 levers on my E4’s on the eeb a few months ago and they were a massive upgrade in performance and power over the tech 3’s.
Tech 3 E4's here, and since fitting the hybrid pistons they've been faultless. Previously I had suffered with a sticky piston or two on my rear brake. If I was buying again, I'd not hesitate to go tech 4's.
Tech 4 V4 here. Had them for about a year. Absolutely no issues. Best brakes I have owned (even including Trickstuff). They just work.
Buy from somewhere that has a high turnover and you'll likely be OK as they have made a running change on production.
A batch of pistons were made undersized
There was also an issue with the master cylinder seal which has also been rectified
A good way to test if you have the old seal is to flip the bike upside down and press the levers a few times
If there's no change in lever feel your good to go if it pulls to the bars like a bad bleed contact hope for the new mc seal
