Has anyone installed hope Rx4 callipers before. I bought a set and tried installing them myself but had loads of air in the bleed no matter how much I watched their how to video. I then took it to the local bike shop to be done and they've not done a whole lot better. I think I'm going to start again and flush the whole lot through. Anyone got any tips? Cheers
I just followed the instructions that came with the calliper when I installed my 4. That worked perfectly.
Same here, found them easier than the Shimano calipers they replaced. I fitted the funnel at top, but pushed through the fluid from the caliper end.
Once set up though, they are so good, i'm 100kg and i was able to lock back wheel 30km into a descent on a fully loaded bike with bikepacking kit on Torino-Nice from 40mph!
I've just had my mad at my LBS install some on my bike (105 levers). No issues that he mentioned...first time he's installed them and said they were 'lovely'. Far superior to the callipers they replaced..not in out and out power, but in general feel and modulation. Also married upto Hope rotors they're far quieter and less squeely than the previous setup on long brake dragging descents. The Shimano ones after a while would get squeely and vibrating with a drop off in performance and after the descent the discs would be rubbing and the performance would have deteriorated for the rest of the ride. No such issues with the Hope setup. They get a bit noisy under prolonged hard use, but when cooled revert back to normal. Plus they look the dogs. Very nice
They're seriously good. One finger braking on steep descents, even in the wet. And no squealing!
Same. (SRAM ones). Although you may have some fun & games if you didn't get the flat mount version, had to use various random washers to shim mine - looks like Hope didn't bother making a specific mount for them (at least when I did mine a year ago!!)I just followed the instructions that came with the calliper when I installed my 4. That worked perfectly.

had to source a Shimano funnel adapter for my 105 levers, but was impressed how straight forward the process was - the Hope supplied instructions were spot on.
Key points seem to be to making sure the calliper is lower than the lever and hose, so removing the rear calliper from the bike is usually required; creating the 'vacuum' with the lever locked and pushing each piston out to remove any air behind the pistons.
Really pleased with them to be honest - love having the modulation and confidence in all condtions.
Thanks all. I've got them set up brilliantly now. The key was following the online video carefully with patience and time. Took an hour out to do it and they're spot on now with a nice amount of bite and no longer pulling right to the bar. Looking forward to testing them properly on Sunday.
Did mine exactly as the video.
Very firm feel and not a lot of space with rotor.
Find my rotors rub a bit from time to time but I do have a tiny bit of wobble in them.
No problem with power but I do wonder if I suffer from the occasion sticky piston.
More a problem as being a 4 piston caliper.
Great feel from the lever tips when descending though!
