Here’s an oddball query.I am running Hope RX4 SRAM brake callipers on my Force 1 setup. If I changed to Shimano GRX could the SRAM callipers be converted to Shimano use by changing the seals and or pistons to cope with the change from DOT 5.1 fluid to mineral oil?
You could swap the seals no problem but I'm not sure the caliper would work very well with the different leverage ratio offered by the Shimano lever, give it a go and let us know how you get on 😉
Don't the sram versions use different pads? That suggests more difference than just seals. IMO you'd be better selling them and buying the right ones.
They definately use different pads. The Shimano version uses Hope E4 pads....i dont know what the SRAM version uses, but E4 pads are definately too big.
As said above, this may mean different size pistons or different total poston area.

I'd be getting in touch with Hope, they've always been really helpful when I've asked them odd questions!
The callipers are actually different. Different part numbers, different pads, pistons, seals etc. You need new callipers.
I'm looking to buy rx4 sram calipers.
are yours flat mount or post mount? would you sell?
Sorry in love with my new callipers, not so much with SRAM gears. When they finally pack up I would change to Shimano.
Hope replied to my query in less than 16 hours. Amazing service.

What's wrong with them? Could it be your set up that's not right? Have you checked the usual problems?
If it was me I'd sell them and by grx with shimano hope calipers rather than mess about with them.
