On a bike clean discover drive side cracked near pedal. No impact, pedals fitted to correct torque. 3000 miles of gravel and road since April. First time for me a hope product has failed. Anyone had any issues with these cranks. Quite a new product from hope.
No, not yet, but then I don't own any.
has it cracked at the bonding, or the aluminium itself?
Cracked the full width of the arm slightly to the right of the centre line for the pedal spindle on the top.
Did you have the bottom bracket spacers correct so you couldn't over tighten them? That's what caused the last one on here.
Can you upload a photo?

I'll go with user error or fair wear and tear when they do respond
Only 4 months old, I will upload images tomorrow, if the crack is close to the pedal how does the bottom bracket spacers impact on the stress at the pedal end.
Emailed Hope today, don’t expect a response just yet.
I reckon they'll replace em for you.
3000 miles in 4 months, well played.

It doesn't. They usually fail on the spinal.
I think the problem with cranks is that shimano have got the perfect design so the others can't copy it yet so they come up with their own solutions that just don't work for various reasons.

The RX crank is nothing like the original MK1 MTB crank and fits much more like Shimano.

Except Shimano cranks crack too.
If they've cracked at the pedal end (completely different failure to the ones already talked about) then that is solid and will most likely be caused by a heavy strike at some point (sounds unlikely in this case) or a defect in the material that has lead to the crack forming and propagating, in which case it should be covered under warranty.
I'm still running MK 1 Hope MTB cranks and had many a pedal strike and no issues at the pedal end...yet. Or the spindle spline end.....yet. Time will tell.
Hope failure rate appears to be way, way higher though.
Definitely no Impact, as that arm is unmarked, rode today no out of saddle pressure, can act actually feel and see the flex, visibly see the it twist on the down stroke, feels like my foot is rolling slightly off the pedal to the side, can’t upload an image as don’t have any photo hosting accounts.
Will speak to Merlin if I can tomorrow and see what they offer, also emailed hope. I now need to buy another set of cranks as I only own one bike. While I wait for this to be resolved as I guess hope will want to inspect.
