Just fitting disks and cassette to my new wheels. Using my trusty cassette tool to wind the disks on.
Front goes on and does up nicely.
Rear, not so well. It seems there is not enough clearance between the QR hub adaptor and the tightening ring to allow my cassette tool to engage with the spline.
Are all cassette tools not equal? I think mine is Ice Tools. Do more expensive cassette tools have a thinner web between the splines to aid better engagement?
has anyone experienced this issue?
Yes - and the answer is different lockrings.

(Not sure if it applies to Hope hubs, but I don't see why not)
Perfect! Thanks Bob. It looks like the ideal solution for the Hopes as the hub adaptors are interchangeable for the bolt through axles and therefore larger diameter.
All very clear to me now.

Hopefully already sorted - this link above might / might not be the same situation.
Hi GC, yes it looks like the same issue. However, I have ordered the lock ring that tightened externally with the external BB tool (Shimano SM-HB20) rather than pulling the QR adaptor out.
