So are they compatible together?
Looking at getting some Hope floating disc rotors for my Formula R brakes.
Cheers.
Bump
I mix and match hope with formula when I wheel swap - not 'ripped of a baby robins' face yet - so as long as same diameters go for it.
The Formula 2-piece rotors are very nice if you like red or black..
I had an issue with the floating hope rotors fouling on formula oro calipers. Not sure if this affects the formula R's though. Non floating hope rotors were fine.
Cheers
Are they both about the same width though? Or are the Hope ones a bit fatter??
I've read some people having to file down parts of the caliper etc.
The Hope ones have the sticky-out rivets which can cause issues with some calipers, mounts, even forks.
I'd steer clear of Formula's own though, they use the same 2-row drill pattern as is in their lightweight steel rotors, they wear really unevenly and cause issues.
Dare I ask, why do you want 2 part rotors? They look nice but they're no better than standard steel, not really any lighter, and they have extra points of failure- mine all came loose at the rivets. Correct material for a bike rotor is simple, well designed steel.
Running RX ones with hope no issues, T1s were a bit of a struggle but sorted alignment eventually, found the formula solid rotors squealy.
The rivets on the hope sit a bit prouder than the formula / one piece.
With Oro's the rivets foul the bottom of the calliper on the tech2 floating rotors, v2 floating rotors that have a deeper braking surface to stop the rivets fouling the calliper work ok, the only drawback is they're only available in 180-203mm

I had Hope X2 Race rotors with Formula R1 and had to file one side of one post mount. Not really an issue and took a minute if that. I should have continued and filed the caliper in to oblivion as they were the worst brakes I've had in a long time!
Good point by Northwind that it doesn't take long for the rivets on the rotors to get a bit loose and the brakes can rock a bit. Don't normally notice when riding but they "ping" and rattle a fair bit
Formula's own "lightweight" one piece rotors are pretty nice. Robust, great quality braking, can be found cheaply, last well and stay consistent... lots to like.
I used Formula rotors for a while as they came with the brakes, but they seemed to warp quite easily.
Got some two piece ones and they seemed to be sturdier, but they are more the lightweight XC type so they don't have the biggest braking area on the disc, lots of cut out metal.
I'll see what's around. Oh I also like the colour options on two piece discs!

Love my Formulas! Not actually sure which model they are mind. Lovely leaver and consistency in stopping power and they never seem to fade at all.
In that case guard them with your life as you have a rare batch! 🙂 Formula seem to be producing the most inconsistent brakes with pot luck performance since Hayes 🙂
In my close group of 3 riders currently riding with 6/6 sets of Formula brakes ranging from 6 years to 18 months without issues...
If you've got some 2-piece ones you're not using I might be interested if you wanted to sell a black 203mm...

I use 180 front and back myself 😉

I've got a set of v2 floaters in 180-203 in gunmetal silver with Hope mounts I'd swap for some XTR 970 blanking caps...
