hi all,
I am building an old Zesty 914 frame. I've got myself a decent set of 26" hope wheels. The rear currently has a 135mm axle in it, i originally thought this would fit but after a bit of research i now realize it should have been a 142mm.
I am looking to try and convert it but am unsure on the correct bit of kit to do it and if there was any video tutorials kicking about? i tried You tube but had no success.
Some of the conversion kit end caps which i was looking at look different to the ones currently on the wheel. The ones currently on the wheel are wider and cover the bearings but the conversion kits dont have this. So i am sure im looking at the incorrect kits.
Any help would be great thank you.
What Hope hubs are they....Pro II? Either way, you'll be needing a new axle as its not just a case of swapping end caps
Hi Nuke, Yeah i believe its a pro II
That's frustrating as it just bought a new axle for it changing it to a 12mm throu axle. Was hoping i could utilize the the one i just bought.
You'll need to confirm if Pro II or Pro II Evo as they utilise different axles.
You say you've bought a new axle: what did you buy (Hope part number?)?
You need the X12 - HUB231 kit
I bought the HUB222 originally which fitted fine to the hub body, just not the correct length.
Will take a look at the X12 – HUB231 kit as mehr suggested.
Im assuming the hope hub can handle different axle lengths if i am unable to just change out the end caps?
Thanks in advance for everyones help so far.
If it’s a pro 2 non evo you need a new free hub, axle and bearings. £100 before you start.
It may say evo on the hub shell but the shell is identical between the 2 variants, so could still be non evo freehub. I’ve got a wheel with a pro 2 hub that had a new shell after cracks appeared. Shell says evo, internals are definitely non evo.
OK, so basically it's one of two options.
If it's a pro 2 (non evo), and it is if you fitted the HUB222, then all you need is endcaps, since it already has a 12mm compatible axle in it (that's not always the case but HUB222 should have taken care of it if it weren't)
If it's a pro 2 evo then you definitely just need endcaps no matter what. (if it were a boost hub that'd be different but it's not so no worries)
