Hello,
Anyone had this happen? The freehub on my XCpro3 rear, cassette and all pulls off the hub very easily.
This happened after changing a tube, and noticed that the axle was a bit too long for the dropouts. The fix was to whip the cassette off, reseat the freehub seal and pop everything back together.
Had a word with my mechanic teammate, and he was a bit stumped too.
It doesn't look dangerous, as it's not gonna happen while in the frame - as the QR will force everything tight... it's just a bit odd, and don't fancy this happening if I get a puncture mid-race or mid-nowhere....
Cheers
Ricks
The whole assembly is held together by the o-ring in the end caps. If the o-ring becomes damaged or worn it becomes lose, as you've found.
It's not really a problem, because, as you realised, the whole thing is held together in the frame by the qr. If you want to fix it you just need new o-rings/end caps.
Alaric.
