Hi all,
Replaced my rear wheel with a new wheel which features a Hope Pro 4 Hub. When I spin the wheel and hold the freewheel it makes a very loud ticking noise. Is this normal and does it go away with time? Seems kinda loud to me not sure if it will annoy me on long rides?

That sound happens whenever the hub is working but your legs are not 🙂 Hopefully you'll get used to it!
It's supposed to do that..
You could fill it with more grease which should quieten it down a touch but honestly you'll get used to it.
Didn't think of that lol - of course it would not make that noise whilst cycling!! Thanks =)
One of the benefits of Hope, nice and noisy hub. Negates the need for needing a bell to alert walkers when using canal paths to link trails. Not as noisy as the previous ones though.
Sounds like a Beeeeeeeeeeeeee..... At speed!
I like it. Also a quick pack pedal is a polite way to let walkers know you might want to pass before you say thanks. 😉
Pedal more. Coast less...
Normal.
Packing extra grease in will only help temporarily, as the pawl contact points will shift excess grease out of the way unless your using grease that's way too thick, which isn't really recommended or helpful.
It makes less noise than a pro 2.
Go for a long ride and see.
I don't find it annoying myself, and I'm used to the understated burr of a mavic freehub.
Never owned any but I love the noise a Chris King freehub makes. The Hope loudness is useful though.
I have a Pro4 rear hub and was disappointed at how quiet and normal it was compared to a Pro2!
