Built up a set of wheels on pro 4 hubs about a month back and have been having shifting issues, today I noticed the cassette is wobbling/oscillating on the XD freehub body. I have tried 3 different cassettes on the freehub and all are doing the same thing; one is a e13 cassette so its not an issue with it being torqued down tight enough. Anyone have any ideas?

Potentially a gubbed bearing, is it a new hub?. If it is, contact hope, I'd imagine they'll help you out.

Yeah, It's brand new a few months ago, I won't have even done 100km on it yet.

I've popped them an email now so I'll see what they say.

I had the same issue before, solution was:

Take the end cap off the hub to get the cassette tool to engage fully.

Also, grease up the cassette and splines on the freehub so it pulls on fully.

Aldo56, I've done that already, no joy I'm afraid! The e13 cassette I tested doesnt use the thread to pull on to the freehub body and that did the same thing.

Is there play in the freehub without a cassette on it?

Response from hope:

We do see the odd one that does that but it doesn’t usually effect the gears. If you think it’s having an effect please feel free to send the wheel in and we can inspect it. If you could remove the rotor, tyre etc and use the attached form that would be great, thanks.

Kind regards

Johnny

Hasn’t really said what the issue is which is annoying and I’m gonna have to pay to send it off.

Anyone know what the usual turnaround is with hope?

They can't tell you what the issue is because they've not seen the wheel.

Turn around is normally pretty good as is their customer service.

So last Thursday I ended up driving down to Barnoldswick and dropping the wheel off. I went and did a lap of Gisburn before getting a phone call to say they'd fixed it. Johnny was great to deal with and even gave me a tour of the factory after!

I’ve dealt with Johnny a couple of time via email and has always sorted me out.
