ive recently acquired a 26” rear wheel witha hope pro 2 hub, but want to convert it from 9 speed to 10 speed, but the ten speed cassette doesn’t seem to go right on, and it means that the smallest ring isn’t on the hub, and thus the lock ring isn’t threading on, where am I going wrong?
Burrs on the freehub body preventing the cassette sliding all the way on?
As above. Proberbly a problem with burrs or something on the free hub preventing the cassette going all the way on.
I’ve a pro2 with a 10 speed shimano cassette fitted no problem.
Definitely not a cross compatibility problem.
The Pro 2 freehub will happily take 9, 10 or 11 speed mtb cassettes without adjustment/shims/spacers etc. Obv excludes XD.
If the 10sp cassette won’t slide down, take a close look at what you have. As above, burrs are the most likely problem and a few minutes with a small file is the fix. There is a steel freehub body that solves the burr problem but it’s even louder and heavier.
