Hope pads prone to contamination?

Hi,

I use hope RX4 brakes on my gravel bikes. Have had them for around a year or two.

My rear pads have always been replaced as they gotten contaminated. I go through probably 3 or 4 sets a year. I have never worn a set out on the rear.

Never had this issues when using ahimano pads previously.

Anyone finding the same or just me?

Got the RX4 on the rear of my road bike after the Shimano caliper seals failed (front still has Shimano) - so far so good - not had any get contaminated so far.

I wonder if it's wax based lubes?
I switched to Squirt around the same time as changing brakes. And now use rock n roll gold.

Wax particles getting tossed off the drivetrain being picked up by the brakes?

Far fetched? 😄

Its not an issue I have using hope brakes and putoline. I wonder if they are cold polished not contaminated. Hopes pads seem to need more bedding in and be prone to cold polishing if only ever used gently. I think hopes use more adherent friction and less abrasive friction than others

I suspect TJ may be correct. Hope brakes do seem to benefit from being worked hard.
