I've got some Mono M4 brakes and tried to bleed them myself with no prev experience of this. The front one seamed to worked fine, though have yet to test it outside. But got an issue with rear, lost a fair bit of fluid out of it when calliper dropped out, got rid of old fliud out of resevoir with a rag and filled with new fluid but when I pump brake the fluid isn't goin down. As per instructions I'm opening valve 1/4 turn, slowly pulling break lever, locking off valve letting lever go and repeating, same as i did for front brake. Lever feels v floppy too and doesnt seam to be driving fluid in. Any ideas...?
"when calliper dropped out" dunno what you mean.
YOuhave no need to empty the whole system of fluid - just bleed new fluid thru. Sounds like yo now have acompletely empty system
Push pistons back in, put something between them to stop the pistons coming out,( folded up card will do).
Without opening the bleed nipple pull the quickly lever a few times hoping some pressure builds up - then open the bleed nipple while holding the lever in, close nipple and repeat. should start the oil flowing
If you empty the system completely it can be hard to start the bleed process as you have a huge air spring /air lock effectively in the system
You might have to end up pulling fluid thru from teh bottom with a syringe
Meant piston not calliper!
nice one Jeremy, it sounds likely, I'll give it a go now
thanks for ur help!
just bleed from the bottom
Syringe + pipe and attach to bleed nipple - undone 1/4 turn
push fluid through removing it from the top /lever with another syringe
Repeat till no air bubbles/syringe is empty
I use my avid ones with the brass end removed and works a treat.
