Hello,
I wonder if anyone can give me advice on hoses for Hope Mono M4 brakes?
I’m building up a bike for my 12 year old and I want to fit some old Hope Mono M4 brakes. The hose for the rear brake isn’t quite long enough and so I’m going to need to replace it. I’m not sure what hose to buy and are the fittings the same as Hope’s more recent offerings?
I found this but I wasn’t sure if it was suitable…
Thanks in advance,
Ash.
I think Mono/M4 in those days ran 6mm hose and fittings? Might be worth measuring up before ordering.
Pretty sure it'll be 5mm on those, so that should be fine, but as said above, it's worth measuring it just in case.
This should explain. FWIW you will need a barb and new crush washers, aside from that the fittings can all be reused (you can actually reuse those bits but it's best practice not to).
Thanks everyone. I actually have a few Mono M4s in the parts bin and when I compared I saw that some use 5mm hose and some 6mm. They all connect with M6 threads at the caliper and master cylinder though, it’s just the connection to the hose that differs. I’m going to order 5mm hose, plus the bits suggested from Tarty bikes.
