I've been given some old 26" Hope hoop wheels and was thinking of sticking new 29er rims on them as spares but they are currently set up as 135 and qr.
I've removed the end caps from the front and it looks like with a set of new ones they'll convert to 15mm easy enough.
The rear however is a different matter. Removing the disc side cap let's me slide a 12mm axle in no problem but it'll not pass through the drive side even after removing the end cap.
And ideas if I can convert to 100x15 and 142x12? If so which caps do I need?
142x12 is easy. It's a new axel as well as end caps on the original pro 2.
Front is just caps for 15mm or 20mm.
Cheers for that, is replacing the axle a fairly easy job?
If you struggle with the axle swap, give me a shout and I'll give you a hand.
This might help (I think it's the right one):
I need to price a few bits up first as refurbishing / rebuilding this old set of 26" is looking like it'll cost as much as a second hand set of 29" ones but should I go ahead I may well be in touch, thanks
The conversion kit for the rear includes a new axle. The kit is different for Pro II compared with the Pro II Evo, make sure you get the right one.
It's fairly straightforward to fit, but you do need to take the hub apart. Don't lose / forget to replace the small spacer.
They are indeed pro 2. I'll buy your old qr end caps and axle if you change them
I'd happily sell them to you but I cant find Pro II (non-Evo) conversion kits at CRC, Wiggle or Merlin.
I believe this is what you want -
You sir are a star...
