Has anybody used the newer fortus rims yet? I fancy a set for my t130, reviews on the older models people mention they do bend and ding alot, new ones do claim to be stronger? I'm not overly hard on my rims so I might not have any issues.

Look forward to hearing your experiences

Fortus 35W are basically the old Enduro 35W re-badged. The Fortus 23, 26 & 30 are all new rims but aren't out until July. I have a T130 myself and have Pro 4 hubs laced to Stans Arch MK3's and they've been ace for the 2 1/2 years I've had them. 35W's are overkill on a T130, something lighter will do wonders for the how bike feels.

Really heavy and far too wide. Old 23mm enduro rims were great tbh.

The Fortus 35W is new in 29, rim is 625g - not a lightweight wheel set overall but comparable to many 32H brass nippled wheels. The only new one I think from the others is the 26, which is a 3mm wider version of the old enduro, with the newer rim profile thats easier to tape.

I've got the 35w and I'd never buy them again. I initially loved them as my first rides were uplift days with new 2.6 tyres and they felt like a new layer of suspension coupled with mega grip. That first couple of days were mint.

Now, every time I change tyres I have to get an adjustable spanner and bend back the parts of the rim that have folded over. Also, I pedal everywhere and I'm dragging around the extra weight for nothing.

Can't wait for an excuse to replace them. Gonna do my best to annihilate them this weekend.

I'm gutted that I don't have access to Hope's lovely, lovely staff purchase prices anymore or I'd have the new Fortus on the way already.

Having just been out riding on some fortus 35/29er wheels, and having cased a big rock, blown some air, carried on for a few more miles and smashed a few more rocks into the rim.... No evidence of any damage. I have to say that's better than I expected....

Hope wheels seem to have a really positive image, but all their recent offerings (certainly of 29er variety) have been narrow, heavy and outclassed by lots of other similarly priced products. Or is that just me?

I sort of agree, however You're getting a pretty nice set of hubs and good spokes for that price, they could be killer if they got a 30mm rim just right. The 35W was pretty good yesterday for dent resistance, and as my fitness gets back (after off for injury) I notice the weight less. The reality is that while there's probably better wheels for similar or less, they are mostly just fairly generic Taiwan parts laced together and rebadged, so while that wheel might be lighter/more dent resistant etc. in the long run you get no retained value. In 3 years time those Taiwan rebadges will be basically worthless, but you'll still have £200 worth of hubs on a hope set.

the 35W works well on the front, as you get a good tyre profile with a 2.5 tyre, and the front doesn't take a battering like the rear so the 'softness' isn't a big issue.

DT rims on the rear though.
