I've just discovered that Hope no longer manufacture brake pads specifically for the older M4 calliper.
The new E4 pad is the same length as the old M4 but much deeper and therefore overlaps the braking surface on the saw tooth rotor on the inner edge, it also projects noticeably from the calliper.
Hope assure me this is OK in use; but to my mind the pads are not lined up over the pistons which must lead to uneven wear at least and the spokes on the rotor are now part of the braking surface.
Has anyone any experience of using these new pads in older M4 brakes?
Just get the correct pads from the likes of Uberbike etc. Or scan ebay for Shimano BR-M755 XT sintered pads, identical pad to the old M4's. Magura also did a brake with the same pads a few years ago. Its not a Hope design 😉
I use Uberbike finned sintered pads for the Zee/Saint in my M4's. Trim 0.5mm off of each end and they are spot on.
Before that, UB or SS sintered pads.
Question is, did hope ever manufacture the pads, or just stock them from another supplier........ I reckon I know the answer. 😉
I use EBC pads in my M4s. Don't think I've ever used hope supplied pads (except for when they were new.)
Thanks everyone.
