Just brought a new bike, Whyte t130s, I have a hope crankset from a previous build ild like to fit in place of the Sram gx cranks. Hope rings only mention 9/10/11 speed comparable, superstar raptor rings say 12 speed eagle compatible. Having never owned a boost bike before or any experience with gx eagle, is it simply a case of buying a boost chainring from superstar and swapping everything over? Should I see any change in shifting performance etc?
I believe a lot of people use 11spd chain rings on Eagle. Indeed I will be doing that soon.
Check the GX chainring is boost and just make sure you fit the same if it is boost.
Hopefully someone will come along to confirm the above.
SRAM say it's vital to get the chainline right at 52mm for Boost or you'll wear the cassette and chain excessively  fast, and the price of Eagle cassettes I'd listen to them.  So, Hope make a Boost offset chainring for the same price as the regular - I'd swap it in and set up as per instructions.
In general 11sp rings will work for Eagle but several places including ST mag have commented now on positive qualities of the hooked Eagle profile (mostly retention with improved lower noise) so when it's an option to use the OE ring design over an aftermarket model with a regular NW type pattern it's probably a good thing.
