Looking to get some Hope Cranks for my 2022 Nukeproof Mega 290 Carbon - 73mm BB shell and 52mm chain line.
I "think" in understand the options.
I can either go for the Hope Evo 68/73mm crank with a boost chain ring, or the Hope Evo 73mm crank with a non-boost chain ring.
Am I right?
Any reason to choose one set up over the other?
Following with interest. I really fancy trying out the 155mm cranks but I don't understand the latest chainline/boost variations.
Boost spacing is at the chainring for Hope cranks. No idea about chain line.
If I understood it correctly when i picked mine out, the arms are all the same and all the changes are in the (replacable) axle and the disc offset. So with one you have more axle and with the other it does the same thing with offset. as long as the cranks physically clear the swingarm/chainstay, narrower crank is probably better but that's the question, isn't it?
It's a bit bewildering because there's so much choice, and tbf in the end i'm not sure it's all that essential to get everything "perfect", probably the second best option will be as close as some of the random mixes of parts I've used with absolutely no problems... But it's worth getting right.Â
Hope are good for stuff like this, I went to them with an "I think I'm right but can you check it" email and got a response the next day.
Have dropped them an email.
Did you get an answer on this?
I'm looking to fit a Hope evo crank on a bike that currently uses a 52mm chainline but may at some point require a 55mm chainline.
I too interpreted the Hope PDF on this that I could achieve this with a 73 Wide crank using a standard ring for 52mm or Boost ring for 55mm. But it'd be nice to be sure it'll work.
I hadn't looked into it much more tbh.
I emailed Hope and got the following back:

Not sure if that clears it up to be honest....
I've been struggling with chain line since fitting a Hope crank and BB. They haven't been very helpful to be honest. I managed a couple of single sentence responses. They didn't even send me the links posted above.
Matt from Rimpact has been pretty helpful but we still haven't figured this out. He's says the Rimpact chain damper should give me a chainline of just over 51mm but for some reason it's sitting way further outboard than my Shimano did at 52mm
I haven't had time to mess with it this week yet but I'd like to sort it out so I can ride it.
Â
As you can imagine this is pretty rumbly in the larger sprockets.

Not sure if that clears it up to be honest....
Yeah I've already looked at those.
I've also emailed Hope and tried ringing them.
I'll try the phone again tomorrow.
I think I'm reading it right but would like them to confirm it for me.
I'll update this when I know for sure.
Just spoken to Hope.
My reading of the PDF was correct.
73 Wide crank with a standard chainring will give a 52mm chainline.
73 Wide crank with a Boost chainring will give a 55mm chainline.
68/73 crank with a Boost chainring will give a 52mm chainline.
So for my application it will be a 73 wide with standard chainring, then switch to a boost chainring if it gets T type fitted at a later date.
Sorry for the thread resurrection again....
Do you get the relevant installation tools included with the crank set?
I believe the chainring lock ring is a standard BB tool.

Â
Mine all came with a tool, you use a BB tool with the hope tool to fit the chainring
Yep, all our Hope cranks except for the Ebike crank came with the tool for fitting the chainring.

Or a vice, which I prefer.
