Swopping from prefitted shimano brakes to Hope, so can i just retain the fitted adaptors ?
Hope rotors will be 200, shimano ones 203,,. Basically 1.5mm a difference which i cant see breaking the bank.
I've probably got a hope front pm-pm in the box somewhere, but if i can avoid buying anything. Happy to go that way.
Hope V4 or E4? The calipers might not physically fit on the adapters, my V4's don't fit on standard SRAM adapters.
Depends on which adapters and which Hope brakes. V4s clash with some brackets due to the size and angle of the housing. I've got a feeling that I've successfully used a Shimano adapter in the past, but don't quote me on it.
The 1.5mm difference is easily taken up with a washer or two. I know it's not 'right', but there are plenty of us that are still not dead.
We've got the Shimano XTR +23mm mount and E4's on two bikes working fine.
I'd go with no. The 203mm adapters are going to place the calliper in slightly the wrong position for 200mm rotors. This may mean that the pads hang slightly off the disc. However Hope still make 203mm rotors so you could get those instead.

I can see how some washers can space out a 200mm mount to fit a 203mm disc but I can't see how the reverse is possible?

Nope, neither can I. I think I need to purchase the 'reading comprehension' adapter for my glasses.

File the tabs down....

V4. Hadn't thought about that, they are big thingies. I should probably just go with Hope adaptors as its going to save the inevitable head scratching when i find they arent fitting 100%.

Do you mean the tabs on the rotor ?. These are the HD 2.3mm solid ones.

No i mean ill just fit the 200 to 203 adaptors no washers as that obviously as you say is in reverse. It means the whatnot ideal is out by 1.5mm which is a really small amount to worth bothering about, i would think.
“ It means the whatnot ideal is out by 1.5mm which is a really small amount to worth bothering about, i would think.”
1.5mm isn’t an insignificant proportion of the braking track width.
You might end up with a slither of a step at the top of the pads as they wear down. I'd go for Hope's adapters to match the cnc craftmanship.
I'll check the box again, I'm sure I've a Hope front 180-200 pm-pm in there at least, so maybe just need a pm-pm rear 180-200.
Thanks for the help ![]()
I used Shimano adapters with my E4s, they were fiddly to setup. Went with Hope adapters and it's a doodle to align the brakes now.
Try it and see. You may need to buy new adaptors or rotors, not the end of the world.
