I have a Trigger 29er with a Lefty Supermax. Has XT brakes but I'd like to move some of my Hopes over from my older, less used bikes.
With my X2s there isn't quite enough sliding adjustment on the caliper to centre it over the disc. I see Hope do a disk rotor shim which would do the job, as a stopgap though till I get one could I just use 6 washers, or is that an accident waiting to happen?
I'd really like to use my M4s but the problem there is the caliper is physically to bulky to fit into the Lefty mount. If I try to use the Hope H adapter (to run 203mm discs) then that adapter won't fit into the Lefty adapter. Any ideas? I see Shimano also do a 203mm adapter but no idea whether that'll have the same problem (found one site that specifically said it wouldn't work with Hope E4s, don't know about M4s or the interface with the Lefty adapter).
(I could carefully cut away a small amount of material from the Lefty adapter to enable me to attach the Hope H mount, doesn't sound like a great idea though! Plus a new adapter is quite expensive if I balls it up or it breaks!)
Basically is there any combo of modern (ish) Hope brakes that anyone is successfully running with a Lefty Supermax or am I wasting my time?!
When I had a Trigger last year I ran E4s on it. No issues. The rear was a different story - the Hopes need more clearance to fit than XT - clashed with the frame. Needed to move up a rotor size so I could use a taller post mount. I ran mine on the XT 180mm rotors with a hope adapter.
Cool, might keep my eyes peeled for some of them. What size rotor on the front? Is that straight onto the lefty adapter? (Question to both!)
